just some thoughts

what ever happened to the winter snow armageddon? we were supposed to be knee deep in the white stuff by thanksgiving and experience record amounts for the winter. for records to be broken, january & february need to be very special. poppycock.

is it just me or do people from wisconsin seem to be a little slower? congressman jim sensenbrenner publicly makes a derogatory comment about michelle obama's backside and implies that she's not doing enough to diet within her "Let's Move" program. now i haven't noticed her posterior one way or the other but there's one thing i can tell you for sure: michelle obama is the MOST ACTIVE FIRST LADY in the history of our nation and she works out on a regular basis. sensenbrenner? fifty pounds overweight. attack her policies and her politics but derogatory PERSONAL comments about the first lady from a member of congress? he's a moron.

ferry services in the united states began losing revenue on december 1st because the coast guard set new weight standards for passengers and the increase to 185 pounds limits the amount of passengers the boat is allowed to load on each trip because of weight limitations for the ferry. less people, less money. apparently, it use to gauge each passenger at 160 pounds.

my police report features a 62 year old woman hit 12 cars in the parking lot at children's memorial hospital in chicago around 6:30 p.m.. when asked, she said she had a "couple for lunch." legally drunk is .08 but her
breathalyzer result was .23............. just a couple.

herman cain? good riddance to bad trash.

breast implants in france have 'exploded' in more than a thousand women and the french government is pondering approval of 30,000 removal surgeries for the women who have that type of defective implant. the implants were filled with a cheap non-approved industrial silicone by a now defunct french company.

why is anyone surprised that ashton & demi finally called it quits? the surprise should be that it lasted this long.

kobe bryant's wife just tossed him for the same reasons demi tossed hers. not keeping it in your pants can be verrrrrrrrrrry expensive. some estimates are around $150 million for her and that doesn't count child support. so much for kobe's plan to retire soon.

rumor has it that kim 'peanut butter' kardashian is on the prowl for kobe and has long been attracted to him. is there anyone she hasn't slept with? her nickname? we all know that nothing spreads easier than peanut butter.
oh, stop rolling your eyes. like she doesn't deserve it!

finally, a real head scratcher: jim sak is a retired chicago police k-9 officer who moved to aurelia, iowa to be closer to his 87 year old mother. he then unfortunately suffered a stroke and has no feeling on one side of his body so he's been using his retired police dog as his service dog. so far so good.

but snickers the dog is PART pit bull and the small town has an ordinance since 2008 against that breed so jim had to ship to dog to a kennel while the matter is sorted out. enter the federal government: they inform the town that the american disabilities act gives jim the right to use ANY BREED as his service dog. your move, town people.

on december 14, the town council voted 3-2 AGAINST making an exception and said they would sieze and destroy the dog if it returned to jim's house. "the government doesn't make the rules here, we do." wow.

enter the ANIMAL FARM FOUNDATION who files suit on behalf of jim & snickers and also agree to pay the kennel bills. "this is just wrong. the guy needs a service dog and we support him 100%. if this town is that simple minded, they better have their wallets open and be prepared to pay."

your move, townies.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE!

sports thoughts

twenty years ago, when JIMMY JOHNSON was coaching the dallas cowboys, his punt returner fumbled consecutive kicks and even though the cowboys won that day, he immediately cut the player and stated that "when you get paid to play, you're expected to perform like a professional." his intention was too send that message to his entire team that no one is above playing at a high level. that said, lovie smith has no choice but to IMMEDIATELY release marion barber, who personally ended the bears playoff hopes by failing to fall down and stay inbounds. HOW HARD IS THAT? fall freaking down and the clock runs out. a) if he's that stupid, you don't want him. b) if he's a glory hound, you don't want him. c) if he hasn't learned the basics by now, he never will and you don't want him. see the pattern? any of the above means you dump his ass NOW.

and while we're discussing dumb asses, how about RYAN BRAUN? the "hebrew hammer" is apparently following in the footsteps of macguire, sosa, ramirez and palmiero by using banned substances to produce mvp numbers and lead his team to the playoffs. immediate denials, as usual, came from his camp which is the norm and his agent made the most telling statement: "there is no way that ryan KNOWINGLY took a banned substance." right. someone dropped it into his glass of mogen david wine......over & over & over & over again. FYI---MLB provides all players with a toll free number so they can get clearance for all supplements. too stupid to dial the number? then sit for 50 games and shuddup. too cocky and figure you won't get caught cheating? well, surprise, surprise. here's a suspension for hannukah. enjoy, you dumb ass.

KENNY WILLIAMS finally waved the white flag and used the "R" word this week which is his way of admitting he has screwed up the white sox for years too come. REBUILDING. how sad is that? the amazing part is that he's being allowed to correct his own mistakes which will take a minimum of 4 years as the white sox wallow near the cellar of the central division. adam dunn, jake peavy & alex rios will be here for all of it because WE'RE STUCK WITH THEM! three of the worst contracts in MLB that he negotiated and now HE gets to rebuild? he thinks attendance was lacking before? just wait, kenny, and you'll be seeing a lot of empty seats. maybe you can start your own section and name it the 'DUMB ASSES ONLY" section.

and what is it with cub fans?? RON SANTO finally gets elected to the hall of fame and deservedly so BUT rather than celebrate his induction, all cub fans can do is bitch and whine about him not getting in earlier. this is EXACTLY the sense of entitlement that makes most of major league baseball hate cub fans and everything to do with the north side. p.s. if you really want something to whine about, just take a close look at your ball park. it still is and always will be, a dump. and be ready to lose a hundred games this season. theo epstein this.

and finally, what is it with all these college football players going viral with their complaints when their head coach announces that he's leaving for a better opportunity? get it straight, you ghetto pieces of crap. when a man has a chance to quadruple his salary and coach in a major conference, he has every right to do that without you whining that he's abandoning you. that's the business world, not just coaching. bettering yourself and taking care of your family is life in a nutshell. you'll find out all about that the first time you appear in front of the parole board.

i have to take a sedative.

well, the day of reckoning for ROD BLAGOJEVICH finally arrived and his parting gift from federal judge JAMES ZAGEL was a smothering sentence of
14 years which should send a pretty clear message to area politicians that back door politics will no longer be met with a wink of the eye. but every dirty pol thinks he's too smart to get caught.

HERMAN CAIN is the worst type of public figure. despite overwhelming evidence, the slime ball continues to deny any improper behavior but drops out of the race citing 'family concerns' but denies anything improper with his secret 13 year 'friendship' that even his wife didnt know about. i'd love to be a fly on the wall at that dinner table.

on the other side of the coin, RAHM EMANUEL continues to amaze me with his vision and non-stop energy as he tries to fix a broken city. i hope that it's all about being a long time mover and shaker rather than a short term fixer but one has to wonder if a guy like him won't get bored after he's left his footprint on the city.

does MITT ROMNEY have too much base foundation to be overtaken by NEWT GINGRICH? newt's late push is running into obstacles like petition signatures, campaign offices, hiring professionals at this late date and just plain old dollars. remember, newt's people walked out on his campaign back in the summer and it was all over but the shouting at that point and he's already missed the deadline for signatures to get on the ballot in missouri for the february 7 primary. iowa is first up on january 3rd but gingrich's campaign offices have yet to open. the clock is ticking.

just read an article about sanitizing your house. kitchens have 100,000 times more germs than the bathroom. i immediately moved my microwave into the shower.

i've always enjoyed FRANK SINATRA and his song stylings but i just heard him singing 'silent night' and the only person more off-key with this song was my sister at grandma hatfield's house when i was a kid. i can't believe they let sinatra's version go public. just terrible.

this has been a great autumn for weather. already in december with just a trace of the white stuff and no drastic temperatures. guess mother nature is making up for the rainy july and wet spring. i guess if you live long enough, it all evens out.

done for now.

sports thoughts

hey, the bears lasted into december but you can only lose so many key players before the wheels come off the cart. watching caleb hanie trying to identify NFL defenses before he gets sacked is like waiting for the cubs to make it to the world series. GUARANTEED it ain't going to happen this year. the bears needed 3-1 from the afc west but they've dropped the first two and are heading to denver, the hottest team in the league and featuring the tim tebow show. ouch.

a little north of us, the packers are steamrolling towards an undefeated season after dumping the giants yesterday. don't think they're going to make it? ONE road game left in kansas city and home against oakland, the bears & lions. if they're still undefeated christmas night, they'll beat the bears by 25 points. pity the lions at lambeau the last day of the season if they're the final road block.

how's that for bad luck? kyle orton finally gets in the game....and lasts for exactly one play. DO NOT share a lottery ticket with this guy.

is LSU the best team in the history of college football? they played their worst half of football saturday and trailed at the break but still beat georgia by thirty-two points to win the SEC and gain a berth in the bcs championship. they've beaten EIGHT teams ranked in the top twenty and four of those were on the road, including the 9-6 winner AT alabama.
eight teams in the top twenty out of 13 games? unleashed monsters.

with neither team above .500 and both with fired head coaches, ucla & illinois will provide the best argument for 'too many bowl games' as they grace our tv screens on new year's eve in something called the FIGHT HUNGER BOWL in san francisco. the cause is great but a 6-7 team in a bowl game??

on that note, THIRTY FIVE BOWL GAMES will begin on december 17 with the NEW MEXICO BOWL featuring wyoming & temple. (quick--tell me in what city temple is located?) 35 games. think about that. playoffs, anyone?

tiger woods rings the bell after a couple years of personal issues. we all know it's not about the money. if he gets his swagger back, look out.

i think SIMEON is the #1 rated high school basketball team in the nation. if you get a chance to watch them play, give yourself a treat. if not in person, they're scheduled for six tv appearances over the season. JABARI PARKER is the man for the wolverines and it's a kick to watch him on the court.

adios (p.s. temple is in philadelphia)

just thoughts

HERMAN CAIN. who is he kidding? bottom line, herm. when you're the ceo of a pizza company, sexual misconduct is probably not going to hurt sales and most of the time, litigation gets settled quietly. but when you want to be president.............say goodbye herman. goof.

enough is enough. OCCUPY WALL STREET protesters have had their 15 minutes but now it's time to go home. they're whining about money but have no qualms about the city of chicago paying a half million dollars in overtime to it's police department to provide security. multiply that by a couple of dozen cities and the 'free' protest is anything but. go home or go to jail for trespassing.

RICK PERRY? when you're in a debate on the national stage, you're basically auditioning for the american public and it's sink or swim. however, perry forgot to wear his floaties and embarrassed himself with his loss of memory. we all experience it from time to time but we're not running for president. say goodnight, rick. back to texas.

NEWT GINGRICH? the thrice divorced candidate several years ago came clean about his extra-marital indiscretions so if he can keep his zipper shut for the next year, he has an excellent shot at becoming the next president.

the severe heat in texas & georgia hurt the peanut crop and prices have escalated 30%. result? a shortage of peanut butter at local food banks and homeless shelters because their budgets can't handle the increase. those agencies rely on peanut butter because it's kid-friendly, filled with protein and has a long shelf life. so if you're looking to make an inexpensive donation this holiday season.........

ROD BLAGOJEVICH'S day in court is next tuesday and his legal team got their asses chewed by the sentencing judge on monday for trying to delay blago's sentencing. the team had requested, in a thanksgiving day filing, that the courts play 180 recordings at the upcoming hearing BEFORE the sentence is announced, which might have taken a couple of months. pissing off the judge a week before sentencing? ouch.

blago's buddy, tony rezko, got a 10 1/2 year sentence last week and the thinking is that blago will get more than that which makes sense because he has shown zero remorse or accountability while rezko helped the feds with their investigation. i originally thought 8 but let's make it 15 years for rod.

penn state? don't get me started............. again.

have a great day!

just shaking my head

consider this scenario: a police sergeant is in charge of a 10 man shift for 15 years. suddenly, two of his officers are indicted for taking bribes over the last eight years and the sergeant immediately tells anyone who'll listen that he knew absolutely nothing about their illegal activity. would any of you believe him? could someone possibly be in charge that long and not be aware? wouldn't someone have said something? i can tell you from experience that the sergeant would be held responsible for what went on during his watch and disciplined accordingly. probably not charged criminally but certainly held responsible, suspended and probably demoted. in any case, his career would be done.

JOE PATERNO'S case at penn state university is even worse than the police sergeant because he WAS TOLD about the problem and 1) broke the law as an educator by not reporting it to family services, not to mention that 2) he allowed the predator to continue coaching AND running youth camps on campus and 3) failed to notify the police.

i don't care if paterno is 84 years old or 104 or how long he coached at the school; he should be arrested and charged with at least three different crimes that i can think of AND he should be stripped of his pension because he was AWARE of the crimes and failed to report them which makes him an accessory to the forty felonies of which his assistant was charged.

they sent illinois' former governor, GEORGE RYAN, to prison for eight years because he was AWARE of wrongdoing and did nothing about it. why should paterno get a walk? he could have saved dozens of children from a lifetime of nightmares if he had done the right thing TWENTY YEARS AGO so now it's time for him to have some nightmares of his own.

IT'S COLLEGE GAG TIME

let's start with the wisconsin badgers and their idiot coach, brett bielema, who, in consecutive weeks, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with the inability to set a defense after a time out. while everyone knows that the badgers are one of the three most over-rated teams in the nation, bielema is solely responsible for the late game collapses.

on a secondary note, badger fans whined until the cows came home when they dropped nine spots in the bcs standings following their defeat at michigan state but i believe that we have now heard the last of the complaints as they solidify their berth in the 'also ran' bowl in tampa on january 2nd for the fifth time in six years.

as i said last year when they lost to TCU in the rose bowl......."fat, slow & stupid players rarely win big games."

speaking of fat & slow, the second most over-rated team in college football, the fighting(?) irish lost all credibility when USC blew them out a week ago and both the players and coach brian kelly QUIT in the fourth quarter. evidence? kelly is down 14 points and doesn't use any time outs the last seven minutes of the game and lets usc run out the clock. kelly then splits the locker room in two by ramrodding the players he inherited and stroking his recruits. this should be good in the weeks to come. notre dame has been irrelevant in college football for twenty years and the beat will continue in south bend.

CLEMSON????? no. never ever trust the acc in anything but basketball.

KANSAS STATE???? no. got beaten like a rented mule and then some.

BOISE STATE??? the third most over-rated team in college football should get either alabama or LSU in the sugar bowl. the betting windows are now open.

kick everyone out of the man cave this coming saturday and enjoy the national semi-final game between LSU & alabama. should be a doozy!

what is wrong on the north side?

have the cubs lost their freaking minds in the THEO EPSTEIN negotiations? they have to come up with compensation (just like a trade) but have said no to the red sox requests for either MATTT GARZA or minor leaguers TREY MCNUTT or BRETT JACKSON. pick one, morons! mcnutt & jackson are nice prospects but one has to keep in mind that the cubs' farm system is rated the third worst in baseball and both guys are B+ prospects, far from being a lock to make it. (just ask corey patterson and tyler colvin).

i understand protecting your prospects within reason but how in the good name of ABNER DOUBLEDAY can you even hesitate to seal the deal with matt garza????????? almost 30, garza is two games under .500 for his career and other than pitching 200 innings a year, has no discernible value to the cubs. how about shipping garza and replace him with your valued prospect trey mcnutt? cub fans should be lining up to drive garza to the airport. only the cubs.

hey, ROBIN VENTURA! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

OZZIE GUILLEN lights up pitching coach DON COOPER in an interview and tells everyone the cooper is "KENNY WILLIAMS' bitch." i was afraid this was going to happen when ozzie headed south and i guarantee ozzie's rocky relationship with williams is next for the general public. it would be nice and show some class, ozzie, and shut your mouth. you have a new job so concentrate on that.

LSU continues to prove they're a quality football program with their ZERO TOLERANCE policy for the players. coach LES MILES rocked the college football world a week before their opener against oregon by suspending starting quarterback JORDAN JEFFERSON for being involved in a fight. that suspension lasted 4 games.

and now, miles has suspended two of his best players, starting running back SPENCER WARE and all american candidate TYRANN MATHIEU just before a huge game against defending national champion auburn. "we have standards for this football team but not double standards. i don't care if you're the 75th man on the roster or an all american. break the rules and pay the price." LSU fans should be proud.

blackhawks?? off and running to the stanley cup finals. book it.

some of my favorite women

as you know, most women amuse me on a regular basis but here are some of my favorites to date:

OMA NELSO was recently denied parole for the second time from her life sentence in california. nelson killed her husband in 1991 and then chopped him into little pieces. big deal, right? the kicker was that she then cooked his body parts into her thanksgiving dinner and served it to a dozen friends for the holiday. and they refused her parole? why?

in florida, 70 year old HATTIE BRANCH resigned her bus driving job after beating the crap out of a 14 year old punk who was bullying everyone on the bus since the start of the school year. "i ain't takin' that from nobody, let alone a 14 year old acting like a nigger," said the african-american branch, "and maybe now he'll show some respect to the new driver." branch, of course, was arrested when the punk complained to the school principal. i say GOOD FOR YOU HATTIE! at this point, her legal defense fund had received over $30,000 in contributions.

a 49 year old school teacher from new jersey, VIKI KNOX, will test the legal waters of free speech following her administrative suspension for an opinion she posted on facebook. knox stated that homosexuality "breeds like cancer" and should be eliminated if possible. the school immediately suspended her pending a termination hearing. the district superintendent said, "she has the right to say anything she wants but she doesn't have the right to keep her job after saying it." place your bets now.

for all of you who have had any experience with divorce thru yourself or friends: LAURA WALSH says state represenative JOE WALSH owes her $117,000 in back child support. joe says he had a 'verbal agreement' with his ex-wife to not pay child support since 2007 because his income had dropped. excuse me? walsh has a master's degree from the university of chicago and i'm pretty sure he knows that it takes a court order to change a divorce decree. as far as having no money, walsh lent his own campaign $35,000 last summer and took a girlfriend to europe on vacation. laura has custody of their three kids and states she has 'no clue' about any agreement regarding child support. pay up joe.

thirty year old CHRISTOPHER MARQUEZ was arrested in bolingbrook for theft related charges as he was caught stealing copper from a storage yard. usually a simple story. but freakin mom was also arrested as police caught ELIZABETH MARQUEZ waiting outside the fence with the trunk open and the car running. p.s.....it was 6 p.m. ......on a sunny day. the apples don't fall far from the tree.

finally, watch for BARACK OBAMA to name HILLARY CLINTON as his running mate as JOE BIDEN retires for 'health reasons'. obama's numbers are dismal in the polls and although he would have a coin flip election with republican MITT ROMNEY, putting the anti-christ on the ballot with him will seal the deal for the democrats. you heard it here first.

the cubs!

CONGRATULATIONS to the chicago cubs on their hiring of THEO EPSTEIN to run the entire show on the north side because now they will finally enter the world of major league baseball. but slow down cub fans....it's not going to happen overnight and 2012 is going to be a disaster of the highest degree with a talent level that should lose 100 or more games. the cubs only have a couple major leaguers on the roster and their minor league system is a vast wasteland that's screaming for a total overhaul.

epstein has a monumental task ahead of him, starting with hiring a new manager and coaching staff....unless he keeps quade to captain the titanic next season and then makes a hire for the top spot during the next off season. quade would be the perfect guy to hold the reins in 2012.

back in the 90's, i told packer fans that it had nothing to do with the roster, fans, good character or scheduling but the packers wouldn't win until they hired a superstar GM, which they eventually did with RON WOLF.

wolf immediately fired the head coach and brought in MIKE HOLMGREN. second move? trade for a drug addicted quarterback named BRETT FAVRE and solidify the defense by signing free agent homophob REGGIE WHITE. wolf didn't care if they were drunks, dopers, gay bashers or wife beaters because he wanted to win. period. a couple of years later, they started re-naming streets in green bay to honor those four.

eerily similiar, epstein fired red sox manager grady little and hired terry francona. then he brought in characters like david ortiz, kevin millar and curt schilling. strange human beings but very talented. result? winner, winner, chicken dinner! 2004 & 2007 world champions but the red sox had a strong talent base when epstein took over and they needed just a couple of pieces to complete the puzzle. even with the lean year ahead, i think good times are ahead for the cubs.

CONGRATULATIONS!

a little bit of everything

women are on a win streak in court rooms around the world. first, CASEY ANTHONY walks away from overwhelming evidence in florida that she killed her daughter and now AMANDA KNOX has her murder conviction overturned in italy. i learned long ago that there is no such thing as a 'slam dunk' in court and that's why you see many people accept plea bargains rather than test the system.

NANCY GRACE, she of the 'wardrobe malfunction' (flopping boob) on dancing with the stars, has looked absolutely clownish in every outfit she's worn on that show. grace apparently has an active membership in the 'all you can eat daily buffet' club and gets paid by the pound, looks oafish no matter what the dance and should be ousted soon. never thought anyone could fill p the entire screen on my 72" t.v.

speaking of unattractive and abrasive people, have any of you watched any of the news clips featuring KAREN LEWIS, the head of the teacher's union for chicago public schools? ouch. she reminds me of that special aunt who gets nasty when she has that fourth drink on christmas eve and decides to get louder than everyone else and 'clear the air' even if you don't want to take part. MAYOR RAHM EMMANUEL wants longer school days and simply put, he's going to get them. period. but this amazon keeps banging her spoon against the pan and yelling that he can't force them. wanna bet? there comes a time you realize you can't win in the long run. just be quiet karen and learn your place.

the cook county forest preserves have long allowed watchman to live rent-free in houses located in the preserves...the idea being that it would provide on-site security 24 hours a day. but then who watches the watchman? a female watchman was recently arrested for growing marijuana on forest preserve property. the district is reviewing the policy. ya think?

if you're looking for very interesting tv, catch 'PROHIBITION' by ken burns, who also did the award winning documentaries on the civil war & baseball. the series is shown in three 2-hour segments on public television and is without commercial interruption so it's perfect for your dvr. the role of women during that period is well documented by burns and he describes it in detail, both good & bad.

if you ever bought a book at the now defunct BORDERS, book store, you should be receiving ads from BARNES & NOBLE in the near future because borders quietly sold their customer list to b & n. if you want to opt out from b & n, contact www.bn.com/borders BEFORE october 29th and you get deleted from the mailing/email list.

legal issues over civil unions will be tested soon in the state courts of indiana. remember the tragic stage collapse at the indiana state fair back in august? well, the life partner of one of the victims is filing a wrongful death/negligence suit for damages. pretty standard stuff, right? but although they both lived together in chicago and were married, indiana dos not recognize civil unions and restricts law suits to surviving spouses and immediate family members. rumor has it that the wheel chair bound survivor will NOT acept a settlement unless it's clearly stated by indiana that they were living as a married couple. it's a little cloudy but i think i see the supreme court in my crystal ball.

later.

FOR WOMEN ONLY

if you've got little ones around, it's time to take them to a pumpkin farm. when i was a kid, it was a place called AMLINGS in melrose park where you could pick out your pumpkin and have a glass of apple cider but that was about it. today, it's much better for both kids and parents and GOEBBERT'S PUMPKIN PATCH in two locations--hampshire 847-464-5952 & south barrington 847-428-6727-- does it about as good as anyone with pig races, camel rides, corn maze, pony rides, animal land, wagon rides and the world famous pumpkin eating dinosaur in hampshire. call ahead because the locations have different features.

CAROL MOSELY BRAUN, who was once the shining beacon for all women in politics and was the first african-american woman elected u.s. senator in 1992 may have finally stepped in it big time. she has failed to account for $315,000 in expenditures when she ran that ridiculous campaign for mayor of chicago. the law requires an itemized list for all transactions over $150 and all the other candidates have all filed proper paperwork. braun turned in a sheet that stated "$315,000--various vendors."

when questioned, she tried to blame an 85 year old lady BILLIE PAIGE, who promptly refuted the accusation. "i told them on april 15th they needed to amend the report and that was my final day with her campaign." when reached by phone told of paige's statement, braun shifted gears and said, "well, i'm not in that world anymore and i'm no longer in politics so don't bother me with this." click. i'm thinking that will not be her last phone call on this matter.

the key word today for state senator SUZI SCHMIDT is ABUSE. in hot water and being urged to resign after several brush-ups with the lake county sheriffs and domestic ABUSE towards her husband, rumors are flying about extreme alcohol ABUSE and also ABUSING her powers as a state senator by asking for favors. i can guarantee you that if any of us had 4 visits from the cops in less than a year for domestic disturbance that someone would be sitting in jail. guaranteed.

i see the fine residents of the englewood neighborhood in chicago are blaming former cabrini-green residents for 'making the neighborhood dangerous' by relocating after cabrini was torn down this past summer. that's like blaming unemployment on the unemployed. those animals have had one of the highest crime rates for decade but all of sudden, it's the 200 new residents from cabrini causing ALL of the problems.

i see where the tollway management have accused 7 employees of stealing toll money from the booths. duh. my grandfather used to tell me 50 years ago that a toll collector job was a 'license to steal' on a regular basis. just make it all i-pass and credit cards and be done with it.

i see where michael jackson's personal physician, who made 1.8 million a year in that position, is in a wee bit of trouble. i think it will be guilty of manslaughter and 4 years d.o.c. and loss of his license forever. hope he saved some of that salary.

just plain weird. google 'cat with two faces' or check page 7 of today's sun-times.

i think it's cool that michelle obama went incognito and shopped at target.

finally, if you've been talking about re-financing your house, let me give you a hint.....NOW! 4% for a 30 year. example: you currently mortgage 150,00 @ 6%=900 a month. re-fi at 4% and it's 716.00. this is a no brainer because you save $184 a month which puts more than 2 grand in your pocket every year. NOW!

have a good weekend.

baseball at it's FINEST!!

wow! what a night for major leage baseball!! four teams playing for the right to move on to the playoffs....two coming from out of nowhere in the last month and two trying to avoid monumental meltdowns. then you get two extra inning games, one decided in the bottom of the ninth and an early winner holding it's breath waiting for a decision in georgia. outstanding!

the best david/goliath story was tampa bay winning the american league wild card with a 41$ million total payroll by catching the $161 million chokin' dog boston red sox. 4 times the payroll and the sox go belly up with a 7-20 september. add to the mix that the rays were down 7-0 in the eighth inning and scored six against the mighty yankees in that inning, then got a pinch-hit, two out, two strikes homer in the ninth to tie the game from a guy hitting under .200 before evan longoria won it by hitting his second home run of the night to end it in the 12th inning.

in the meantime, the red sox take a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the 9th against a baltimore team that finished the year 28 games out of first place and the red sox were 77-0 when leading after the eigth inning. 77 and ZERO. just get three outs and head to the playoffs. put your best closer in...a guy with 31 saves. first two batters strike out swinging and the celebration is set. but double, double and a missed catch 'single' and a bad throw home ends the season for the sox.

people are bitching about jose reyes' method of winning the batting title but i say they're wrong. he goes 1-1 today and then sits out the rest of the game for the fourth place mets. ryan braun needs three hits to catch him but goes 0-4. reyes wins by 5 FULL points, not .005 as some stations reported earlier. they both played all season and the numbers are what they are. braun had ample opportunity on a powerful offensive team but finished second. i think everyone knows who the better ball player is but reyes earned the title in an injury plagued season on a crappy ball club.

let's not forget the chokin' dog II atlanta braves who went 9-18 in september and lost their last 5 games to piss away an 8 1/2 game lead in just 23 days.
chipper jones this.

ozzie is gone and i think it was the right move. wouldn't have bothered me a bit if GM williams had also gotten whacked. maybe terry francona of the red sox would like to switch cities? but it looks like former sox catcher sandy alomar, jr. might have the inside track and that's also ok with me.

adam dun....a .159 average with 177 strikeouts. how's this for a paycheck....with his 66 hits, dunn mad 212,000 dollars PER HIT! that alone should have shanghied kenny williams but wait, i have a better one. every time that piece of crap hit a homer (11) he got paid one and a quarter MILLION dollars!!!!!!

quade gone?

sandberg in?

cooper got an extension as pitching coach. nice move.

greg walker resigns. smart move on his part.

first round winners? brewers, philadelphia, yankees and tampa to upset texas.

i'm tired. more soon.

baseball & football

if case you didn't already know it, here's a quick fact for you to remember: the SEC is the best conference in college football. every other conference is simply playing for the bcs runner up trophy.

the cubs were eliminated from the division race on saturday but they're still alive for the wild card heading into play on sunday. the one mountain they WILL climb is the one to 90 losses, which are a mere ten away. how can anyone be a cub fan? year after year after year.......

BUT if the cubs bring in tampa gm andrew friedman, i predict he will have the same effect that ron wolf had on the packers back in the 90's. you heard it here first. friedman is just 35 years old but has a history of holding people accountable IMMEDIATELY, which would chang that drag-ass attitude that is so prevalent on the north side. he will cost them dearly but tom ricketts has to decide what he wants: winners or write offs?

the white sox bottomed out with that 9-8 loss on saturday in detroit which should spell the end for both kenny & ozzie. everyone is sick of their childish battles in the media and the chairman has also had enough. this was a team good enough to win but you had to be willing to sit dunn & rios july 1st, not september 1st and calling up the replacements so you could make a run at the division. no more excuses for them. out the door.

the bears are sneaky ready but a very tough schedule and a big question mark hanging over the offensive line reels in my enthusiasm. if cutler continues to get beat up like the last two years, have a body bag ready. i still say 8-8 with no playoffs.

bonus question for a free beer: within 5 seconds, NAME the head coaches of the chicago fire, chicago sky and the chicago wolves. 5 seconds, GO! i didn't think so.

chicago bulls? no news

blackhawks? i got nuthin

chicago fire? never any news

chicago sky? a total waste of gymnasium space. classic underachievers second only to the cubs.

wolves? 3,216 fans wait anxiously for the start of the season.

i'm outta here.

TIME TO PAY THE PIPER

for all practical purposes, baseball in chicago came to an end this week as the white sox proved once again that they can't play with the big boys by getting whacked on consecutive nights by the angels and falling 7 games behind the streaking tigers, who have won 16 of the last 24 while the sox were playing (guess what?) .500 baseball prior to this weekend.

against the big 6 in the american league, the sox are 20-29 and are doomed to a losing record vs. winning teams as they only have six games left against the tigers in september. (i eliminated cleveland fron the equation because they're also pretenders at .500) BUT WAIT! that means the rest of their games are against struggling ball clubs, right?? that's correct but guess what? they have a cumlative record of 11-16 against minnesota, kansas city & toronto so i do believe the handwriting is clearly written on the wall. it would take a TOTAL collapse by the tigers for the sox to have a chance. so who's responsible for this mess? read on.

KENNY WILLIAMS must be held accountable for this fiasco known as jake peavey, alex rios and adam dunn. he accepted all the kudos in 2005 for building a winner so now he must face the firing squad for strangling this franchise financially for the next 4 years. pro sports are based on 'what have you done for me lately' and always have been because you're paid to produce and kenny has failed miserably. when you start getting compared to jim hendry, it's really time to start packing. RICK HAHN will slide right into the GM slot.

OZZIE GUILLEN? i think he's gone to florida. ozzie won't stay if kenny does and that's pretty much a sure thing but even if kenny is given his walking papers, ozzie might find that job with the marlins irresistible because his entire family is in florida. p.s.--if ozzie goes south, watch for juan pierre to follow as his contact runs out this year and he's an unrestricted free agent.

so the sox didn't make it to labor day and the north siders were done by memorial day. the bulls are on strike and hockey is two months away so THANK GOD the nfl settled their differences. GO BEARS!

what goes around.....

want to fill a stadium? just take all the sychophantic cub fans who actually thought that carlos zambrano would take them to the promised land and it should be s.r.o. but cub fans are liars by nature so maybe they don't fill the stadium but it would be close.

AS I TOLD ALL OF YOU pie in the sky NORTH SIDERS five years ago, IT IS HIS FAULT and always has been. the dustup with michael barrett, the finger pointing at derrek lee (of all people), getting thrown out on opening day (WHO DOES THAT?) the tantrums and disrespect of his team mates...........ALL HIS FAULT. you bought into the hype that he was just a passionate guy who wanted to win so badly but he is just a punk who would be in the latin kings street gang if not playing baseball. you should all be ashamed of yourselves for defending him the last five years and not recognizing him for the piece of crap that he was and is.

and that includes bob rychel, peter breit (who also stated "alfonso soriano is worth every penny"), bobby lucas, nephew mark, robert breit, nephew frank and big hollow ron who defended him at one time or another. shhhhhhhhhhhh. go stand in the corner.

and if the cubs even whisper that they're taking him back and you don't boycott or switch teams, then the intelligence level for cub fans is even worse than i thought. "mr. ricketts, please report for your testosterone test."

when i write about how bad cubs management is and you disagree, just read the following: zambrano, carlos silva, todd hundley, milton bradley, sammy sosa, glen allen hill.....liars, drunks, wife beaters, sociopaths, psychos, steroid abusers.........just who picks these guys? you act like that on the south side and you're history. just ask carl everett, david wells or nick swisher. don't want to be a team player??? cancer in the locker room?? disrespectful to management or the fans?? bye-bye

hey, if zambrano needs a buddy for the next thirty days, please have him call adam dunn because believe me, he won't be missed.

sox within 4 games and it feels like a million. and i say again....adam dunn is solely responsible for them not being in first place.

bears will be 8-8 this year and the hated packers will be dominant. if aaron rodgers stays healthy, brett favre will simply become a footnote in packer history. remember, the drug addicted, drunken hillbilly won ONE super bowl and rodgers is tied with him already.

corey wooten is still my favorite bears' defensive lineman for putting favre on a slab that cold december day. outstanding.

why do we have the WNBA? no one attends the games and women are dreadfully boring attempting to play basketball. if you had to eliminate one team....would it be the chicago sky or the chicago fire?

daniel carcillo is about to become the toast of madison street when the blackhawks take the ice this season. he adds a physical presence and toughness they lacked last year and if he gets a little smarter about penalties, he'll get some of the biggest cheers at introduction time.

so an overdue goodbye to cub fans (actually due around july 1st) and we'll see you next year as you slink to the ball park to cheer on 'iowa west' for the next 4 years. perfect. ciao!!

for ladies only

i've been down with a bad back for a couple of weeks and had a chance to read EVERYTHING and watch all the news channels. here goes!

the black community is up in arms because a 6 year old girl was killed by random gunfire over the weekend. this is the same community that won't cooperate with police investigations, whether the officer is black or white. my prayers to the family but screw them.

another example: an off duty officer saves a 15 year old from a gang beating but the victim refuses to prosecute. and the black community wonders why indifference infects cops called to those communities for 'hot calls'. there is no respect for the general laws of society and they strongly believe in the law of the jungle. "the strongest & loudest survive." ok, police yourself.

speaking of no respect.....a black woman in maywood is pistol whipped by her husband. she phones the police. they respond and the husband opens fire on the officers, striking one dead center in his bullet proof vest. the cops return fire and put the offender on life support. the pistol whipped wife is already talking lawsuit for police brutality. go figure.

oprah's OWN network is bleeding red ink and should be out of business in less than three years. good riddance. the only thing that will save her is if she resumes her talk show.

rod blagojevich will be sentenced october 6th. i think 12 years in prison should adjust his attitude and his haircut.

did you see where the local surgical centers have been cited for infection problems? hawthorn surgi-center in libertyville and north shore endoscopy in lake bluff are both on the list. swell.

the 30 navy seals who died in afghanistan reaffirm my belief. screw those people and bring our men & women home NOW. it's been ten years and enough is enough.

hey, take the time to watch RIZZOLI & ISLES on TNT at (9:00 on monday nights.) angie harmon(law & order) is a cop and sasha alexander (ncis) is a medical examiner. the plots are easy to follow and harmon's wry humor captivates for the entire hour.

does anyone else stick their lottery tickets on the refridgerator with a magnet and check them, like once every 6 weeks?

like our 'hot' weather this summer? dallas has had 38 consecutive days over 100 degrees with the LOWEST temperature at any time 87 degrees. at 3 in the morning. yowsa. el paso went 4 MONTHS with no rain.

final year for 'rescue me' and 'desperate housewives'. rescue me is outstanding television but DH should have died two years ago.

football is back. if you have any questions about the basics of the game, just ask and i'll be happy to explain. bye for now.

just sports...maybe

the white sox might be making a move in the standings but as long as you play adam d-o-n-e & jake peavy, you are walking on very thin ice. at least rios is on the bench. finally.

the bears pick up roy williams from dallas. didn't they learn with tank johnson & cedric benson? this guy is bad news.

the cubs should be sending cash money every week to the houston astros for being worse than the cubs....and that's very hard to do.

true story....couldn't get anyone to take free tickets to a cubs-phillies game in mid july. most just laughed at me.

will any of the garbage get traded by sunday night? zambrano, ramirez, soto, dempster, marmol & pena are ALL AVAILABLE and the cubs will eat 80% of their salaries! but takers are few and far between. that's how bad it is on the north side.

the NBA season? uh, no.

glad the NFL worked things out. people love football.

the bears have released a few and signed a few but will go 8-8 this year.

say goodbye to mike quade. adios for now.

thoughts & things

amy winehouse o.d.'s. what a shock. as shocking as janis joplin, jimi hendrix, chris farley, john belushi & lenny bruce. any bets on charlie sheen?

john boehner's republican buddies tell him to pound sand. oops.

joe walsh owes over a hundred thousand in child support. and he's the new leader in illinois?

the tollway wants to raise the rate. first time since 2005? go for it.

chicago police officers are involved in multiple shootings over the last month. here's a hint: if you're going to be stupid and point a bb gun at an officer, you're probably going to die. he doesn't have time to differentiate between real & fake in an alley at 2:00 a.m.

is anyone else tired of the rain? jeeze. stop already.

40th high school reunion coming up....i'll pass.

the lightning show the other night was top shelf. sat in the gazebo and enjoyed every minute.

chicago passes an 8:30 curfew for kids under 12. good luck with that. the bottom line is the parents who care have their kids in sight when the sun sets but the animals let theirs run the streets. and they wonder why they have gang problems in their neighborhoods?

paul mccartney plays two concerts at wrigley this weekend. this guy is a national treasure.

the city council in aberdeen , washington voted down naming a bridge after kurt cobain, who blew his brains out in 1994. the council cited his drug use, suicide and negative comments about aberdeen as reasons to vote down naming the bridge after him GOOD FOR THEM.

jenny mccarthy tells oprah to 'take a walk' and brings her television project to NBC instead. good for her.

oprah's OWN network is bleeding red ink. soon she will disappear into the night and hopefully forever.

and the cubs still suck. bye for now.

crunch-ED time for white sox

most of you cub fans out there know that i don't miss too many opportunities to chomp on the cubs but on this all-star monday morning, kick your feet back and enjoy the blog because fair is fair.

the chicago white sox are the biggest regular season disappointments in chicago, BAR NONE, over the last twenty years. loaded with high priced talent, they have morphed into (gulp) the cubs by throwing the expectation lasso over their fans and then adding frustration, angst, aggravation and various soap operas, all the while whittling away the season with gross levels of incompetence and under-achievement.

the sox looking like the cubs??? no way??? read on for a couple of quick examples.......

how about a do nothing outfielder like alex rios who steals his 12 million dollar annual salary by hitting .210, loafing in both the outfield and on the basepaths and being sullen and withdrawn in the locker room? remind you of a couple of people on the north side? and the sox are stuck with him for as long as the cubs are stuck with soriano, 2014. nice.

or how about jake "i talk a great game" peavy, the 17 million dollar answer to carlos zambrano. 11-9 over the last two seasons, he hasn't pitched a full season in five years and gets under the skin of his teammates with his 'it's all about me' attitude. signed thru 2012, his e.r.a. is currently 2 runs a game OVER his career average and now he's whining about seeing a pysical therapist after getting lit up by the twins on sunday. how about a different kind of therapist?

which brings us to adam dunn. or is it d-o-n-e? he is SO BAD that announcers get excited when he just puts the ball in play. a ground out to second and they act like he's 'coming around.' what a croc.
a breath taking batting average of.160 earned him 7 million first half dollars and god only knows what he'll do for the other seven in the second half. he is an automatic out and killing the white sox who won't sit him because of the money issue.

GM kenny williams is on the hot seat with the adam dunn situation. stuck with him thru 2015, dunn will be an everyday reminder (as rios currently is) of how to ruin your budget with bad free agent signings. FORTY-THREE MILLION annual dollars for these three players and you're effectively getting nothing out of them and ruining your team's chances at success.

enjoy the all star break.

THE HALF WAY POINT

well, it took most of my lifetime but the stubborn, hard headed, slow witted fans on the north side of town have finally awakened to the fact that their team truly does SUCK and they are staying away in droves. WGN can no longer avoid the 'empty seat' camera shots because they are everywhere inside that poor excuse for a professional facility. now we'll see if this continues or if the north side lemmings are just reacting to all the bad publicity this year.

the running joke every year as follows: how can you tell when the cubs have been eliminated? because aramis ramirez finally starts hitting!

anyone want to buy a 'big donkey?' the so nicknamed adam dunn is the WORST free agent signing in the history of this town and the white sox say they have to keep playing him because he's making a lot of money. WHAT??? i guarantee you that either of my nephews, frank or ron-take your pick-- could hit at least .171 and they would strike out less than 100 times in 67 games. and they would play better defense. what a piece of crap.

i'm the biggest sox fan in the world but they are making a HUGE mistake. put his butt down on the bench and promote dayan viciedo from the minors. dunn had his chance but now he's d-o-n-e. let him pinch-hit and start once a week and hope next year is better. it couldn't get any worse.

and alex rios makes 13 mil and can't run out a pop-up to the first basemen? i'm screaming at the tv but at least ozzie benched him for the rest of the game. another guy who needs a train ticket.

paul kariya retires from hockey because of the effects of post-concussion syndrome that have lasted more than a year. apparently, he went for his most recent exam and couldn't remember the name of his current team. after a year of treatment and no hockey! a freakin year! game, set & match.
kariya was a true superstar who played 989 games and scored 989 points. pretty good and i wish him well.

NFL LOCKOUT? will be solved shortly

NBA LOCKOUT? don't hold your breath

have a safe holiday weekend!

HAPPY DANCE!

how sweet is this? the whiny, finger biting, hair pulling bitches from vancouver gag it up in game 7 and their fans set the city on fire! perfect.

and now the cubs........

the cubs need to re-shuffle and even the most stubborn fan should understand that so how about this? you're stuck with soriano thru 2014 and he may be the worst left fielder in the history of the game with a self admitted fear of the wall. coupled with bad legs that are getting worse, the only thing this guy does well is streak hit. how about first base? it would save his legs and other than the occassional pop foul, remove his contact with the bricks at wrigley. think about it.

you could do a whole lot worse than soriano, barney and castro from first to short and the move would open an immediate spot for an outfielder. i think everyone realizes than carlos pena was a one year rental whose better days are behind him so let him teach soriano the position. keep ryan dempster, jeff baker and the kids but send the rest of the veterans packing. bite the bullet for a couple of years and develop the kids rather than wasting time with under achieving garbage. the attendance has fallen 10% to date and it's only going to get worse UNLESS you show the fans that you have a plan.

speaking of having a plan...it would be very nice if the white sox would make a move to obtain an established closer....NOW. if you're "all in" as they say, then you do whatever to win it all and if that cost you a prospect or two, so be it. sergio santos did pretty well for a guy who's only been pitching three years but his era over the past ten appearances is 9.41 so somebody figured out to lay off his non-strike slider and wait for his mistake when he has to throw a fastball. make a move.

are we going to have the NFL this year? on time? i think so because both sides are scared to death over the the possibility of an 'outsider' like a federal judge deciding their fates. i find it very interesting that progress was only made after the lawyers were eliminated from the negotiations and 'plain speak' entered the process. game on.

the miami heat are 2-1 favorites to win the title next season and i think that's pretty accurate because they're going to get better with the addition of career role players, rather than the last minute addition of former starters who had to learn the position. they didn't sign gag boy until july last year and had little time or money left to pursue the supporting players but it's different now because they've been targeting acquisitions since last summer and have a precise understanding of their salary cap. the bulls will have to get better because the heat will stand in their way every season, just like the pistons did to michael's bulls back in the late 80's.

talk about self prophecy. lebron james said last year that he didn't want to be 'the guy' anymore as he was with cleveland for 7 years. he definitely got his wish as he proved to millions that he wasn't 'the guy' over and over and over again. the king is dead.

will tiger ever return to form? will he win another major? his decline is unfortunate because the PGA tour is filled with anonymous faces and most have little or no media 'heat' to propel them to instant recognition.

watched men's lacrosse last night. interesting game. hockey on land and pretty physical. well conditioned people. lots of scoring. try it.

gotta run. almost time for the white sox to lose to the twins again. thank god for the rainout on tuesday. saved us a three game sweep. adios.

there IS a santa claus!

every once in a while, something occurs in the world of sports that makes you smile. for me, it's always been a white sox win, a cubs loss and a good boxing match that goes the distance. but last night, watching the dallas mavericks dismantle the hapless miami heat and sending lebron to a summer of self doubt was worth the price of admission. lebron's failure and his constant 4th quarter disappearing act finally wiped that smirk off his ugly face. now if the bruins can find a way to beat the jerkoffs from vancouver, it would be time for the happy dance in the bay window!

i found it amusing that peter gammons called wrigley field a dump last week. while he's accurate in his assessment, gammons has held season tickets for years at fenway park, which is the other dump in the major leagues. p.s.--gammons thinks 200 million will renovate wrigley but i have a cheaper idea. i think about 10 million will pay for a wrecking ball and then build a facility in the suburbs that's a 21st century structure complete with toilets that flush and actuel parking lots that don't require a second mortgage. screw the people in wrigleyville. let it go back to hookers, drugs and dirty book stores.

if you live in the northern suburbs, using rapid transit to a sporting event is a joke. i tried it to wrigley last week for the first time by taking the train to the grayland stop and exiting on a 2nd story platform. with NO signs, i picked a stairway and walked down to the city streets where, of course, there was once again NO street signs. i have no clue where i'm at.

i enter a bar called kennedy's and the purple haired multi-pierced gum chewing bartender waves her hand and says "addison is that way" and sorta points south. exit the bar in a pouring rain and walk three blocks to a cta bus stop (no shelter) and stand in the freakin rain until the bus comes. ask the driver how much and i get the same look skinheads get when they walk into a jewish temple. the driver says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING and continues to glare at me while the people behind me still standing in the rain get restless very quickly. thankfully, the guy right behind me tells me it's two bucks and i hand the money to the driver and he reacts like my bills are radioactive. he points (but doesn't speak) to the slot and i feed the meter to continue my trip to the shrine on addison.

now the bus is packed with rain soaked cub fans which makes me uneasy enough but the windshield fogs up completely with all the humidity and the mutant operating the bus is driving blind! i swear to god there wasn't one inch of clear glass. the mutant finally pulls out his hankerchief AT THIRTY MILES AN HOUR and wipes the glass.......ONCE.....which creates a three inch opening. incredibly, we arrive safe. after the game, i took a taxi back to the grayland stop. fifteen bucks and worth every penny.

JUST SPORTS

as predicted, the cubs are terrible and on pace to lose 93 games. mike quade is the long term sacrificial lamb while the fans get screwed right now with this collection of overpaid has-beens and a roster that's roughly 50% minor leaguers. too bad the ticket prices are major league.

speaking of cub fans, some have finally realized that 'quality counts' and have decided to stay away from the park despite all of the tickets having been sold. memorial day was a perfect example. 85 degrees at wrigley on the holiday monday but only 30,000 in the park. when's the last time that happened? ricketts will start to feel the squeeze if the cub fans stick to their guns and demand a better protect by staying away.

did you see aramis try to catch a ball with his mouth? classic. beckham finished second in this contest with his attempt to catch a ball with his eye.

on the south side, a dismal start may have doomed them but they are showing signs of life but still suffer from inconsistencies on offense. the sorry part is they have outstanding pitching and an all-star closer but they can't hit. how can adam dunn not have a single hit off left handers after two months? and alex rios is the south side answer to carlos pena.

the bulls had a great season and a deep run into the playoffs but need some help at several positions but even if they get help, they still won't be as good as the heat. unless dwight howard comes to chicago. please.

derrick rose was terrible against the heat but i checked the books and kobe also sucked his first three years in the playoffs, finally hitting his stride with the arrival of shaq, who was then in his prime. rose sucked but he had no help.

the fire dumped their coach and..., oh never mind.

i don't think the NFL starts on time unless the players get a favorable court ruling next week. if not, watch for the season to be played in november & december only. the owners won't be the first to blink.

NHL? you have to hate that whiny bitch roberto luongo but vancouver is the best team and will take the cup in 6 games.

adios

FOR WOMEN ONLY

hello ladies! now that you've survived the day of rapture, let's get down to business and start catching up.

jared lee loughner was found unfit to stand trail for the killing of six people and tragic wounding of rep. gabrielle giffords so he heads to a mental facility for 'rehabilitation' instead of prison. and i say again....when you randomly kill people, of course you're unfit. giffords is a profile in courage while this scumbucket avoids the death penalty in arizona and lives on the taxpayer dollar for the next 40 years.

i see where john edwards, every woman's favorite husband, is thisclose to being federally indicted for dipping into the till. edwards was once a strong presidential candidate until he started an affair while his wife was fighting terminal cancer and then fathered a child out of wedlock while still married, denying it the entire time........a total lack of class. the indictment and subsequent conviction should bring jail time.

and while we're on the subject of infidelity, maria shriver is the subject of many discussions regarding loyalty & support. she's far too intelligent to be totally unaware of arnold's playing around for that length of time so why stay with him? when did she really find out about the love child? it appears the marriage existed for political purposes only which makes her a little less sympathetic to me because she certainly enjoyed the benefits of being the california first lady.

on a lighter note, courtney love says that celebrities contact her for advice when they get into legal trouble and she's heard from paris hilton, lindsay lohan & kelly osbourne after their arrests. love giving advice on how to stay out of trouble is like charlie sheen authoring a parenthood book.

i am shocked! amy winehouse went back into rehab. again.

and finally, i see where sarah palin released her documentary whick is titled "the undefeated." surely she knows the results from 2008 when she got her ass kicked?

bye for now. more soon

i am now recovering from oprah overload. no one was happier than me to see her leave chicago and clear the air waves. i always found her to be self serving and awash with "hooray for me. look what i've done." she is now california's problem.

sports of all sorts

the CHICAGO BULLS look to be in trouble against miami and we're all locked in with ragging on carlos boozer but if you want a real villian for games 2 & 3, look no further than #1, mvp derrick rose. he has stunk up the place in consecutive games and the bulls have NO CHANCE unless he responds to the pressure of the conference finals rather than disappear.

the WHITE SOX, on the other hand, have righted their ship by winning 5 of the last 6 series and splitting the other. adam dunn appears to be a mistake and alex rios is stuck in reverse but the pitching has been outstanding and if the bats ever thaw out, the train will become non-stop to the top. paul konerko is still the best player on either side of town.

adios to HARMON KILLEBREW, a class guy.

best wishes to MOOSE SKOWRON in his fight against lung cancer.

the CUBS are still a terrible organization which has stocked the team with more overpaid head cases like matt garza and carlos pena. they are on pace to lose 90 games and the fans are already staying away from wrigley in droves. this team is very similar to the titanic and just floating towards the iceberg so fasten your seat belts for a long 4 year ride on the s.s. ricketts.

the BEARS are the most popular team in town and the ratings for football are thru the roof but if the regular season is affected by the lockout, the nfl will take a major hit. the owners once again have the players over a barrel and the courts appear to be on their side so once the paychecks run out this summer, the union eventually will fold like a cheap suitcase but at what cost to both sides?

the BLACKHAWKS showed the effects of the stanley cup hangover by underachieving all season and then losing in the first round. they are the perfect example of 'enjoy it while you can' because there are no guarantees in sports.

the CHICAGO FIRE soccer team ? never mind.

thoughts & things 1/13/11

RAHM EMANUEL sits at 49% in the latest poll and needs another per cent to avoid a runoff election in the chicago race for mayor. should he be worried about a runoff? nope. the black candidates have all self destructed with their buffoonish behavior and city clerk de valle was never a factor which leaves gery chico at 19%. do the math.

charlie sheen makes 1.8 million dollars PER WEEK. i hope he has some left to pay for the coffin he's going to need very soon. maybe he could hook up with linsay lohan.

roy roger's stuffed horse, trigger, was sold at auction for $266,000. if you don't own a museum, what the hell do you do with him?

grandma gives birth to her own grandson via the sperm from her son-in-law. just call me creeped out.

ANOTHER animal shelter has been shut down because of cruelty to animals. that's two in two months. maybe it's time for the locals to inspect these facilities on a regular basis? and send the owners to prison, not branch court for a slap on the wrist.

looks like the baseball fun will be on the south side of town again this year.

how the mighty have fallen. the blackhawks. wow.

adios for a while. stay warm.

THE WRAP UP

the completion of the super bowl provides a much needed 30 day break to recharge our batteries for march madness and then the return of baseball. there is nothing worse than the nba in february, unless it's women's college basketball. ugly all the way around.

congrats to aaron rodgers on winning the super bowl mvp and he truly seems to be a nice guy, which is a nice change from that drug addicted, penis tweeting, wife cheating, alcoholic dirtbag who used to be the quarterback up north.

just curious....did anyone tweet that charles woodson or donald driver 'quit' on their team when they didn't return from their injuries?

the FACE VALUE of a super bowl ticket this year was $800 and a broker was going to give me $11,000 for my 2 seats if the bears went to the dance. and you think YOU were disappointed when they lost?

the super bowl will be in new york in 2014. has anyone looked out the window recently?

my buddy pete thinks the nfl should build a stadium complex which would include "nfl land" in a warm weather site and the super bowl would always be played at that site. nfl land would be like a sports themed great america and the retractable domed stadium could be used for concerts, conventions, etc. the rest of the year. it has merit.

sports overload!!

some hosebag from a reality show says that on the eve of game 7 in 2003, she partied with three of the cubs until 4 a.m. and two of them were in the starting lineup in game 7. if you're not going to name names, then shut up.

and speaking of hosebags, BRANDI FAVRE, sister of the drama queen was arrested for being part of a meth lab in mississippi. before the sympathy flag goes out, the lovely ms. favre has a prior conviction for being the wheelman in a drive-by shooting. what a great family.

************************************************************************

everyone predicts the playoffs so here goes:

BEARS 27

SEATTLE 9

**************

PATRIOTS 28

NY JETS 13

*****************

RAVENS 19

STEELERS 14

********************

and as much as i would like to beat the crap out of the packers in chicago,

ATLANTA 24

PACKERS 16

*******************************************************

hey, the cubs actually made a good trade!! MATT GARZA will help them immensely on the mound. he's a fiery competitor who gets a little edgy when things go bad but he competes EVERY time he pitches. even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

if you're a white sox fan and you run into ONEY GUILLEN, feel free to punch him in the mouth and tell him it's from me.

the bulls are hanging on without noah but it ain't pretty. no consistency except when it comes to losing to bad teams. how do you beat oklahoma city, boston and the lakers and then lose to new jersey, philadelphia and charlotte??? and all within 30 days!!

DERRICK ROSE MVP?? why not?

the blackhawks are looking better but check out next weekend when they have back-to-backs with detroit & philadelphia. then we'll know.

ENJOY THE WEEKEND!

the week in review

that cowardly attack in arizona just fuels my fire for capital punishment.

for years i've said that if you lose in the first weekend of the football playoffs, then you didn't belong in the first place. so congrats to the jets, seahawks, ravens and packers who all took care of business.

bears are 9 1/2 point favorites next sunday and the packers are two point underdogs in atlanta. LET'S ROCK & ROLL!

packers vs. bears two weeks from now in chicago?

is AMERICAN IDOL yesterday's news now that simon is gone?

the rapidly fading mayoral candidate CAROL MOSELY BRAUN refuses to
answer any questions regarding her finances or tax returns. sorry but i thought full disclosure was important to candidates. "we are totally transparent" is her battle cry but she walks away from inquiring reporters.

do you think danny davis & james meeks are sorry they dropped out of the race to support braun? and no, they can't get back on the ballot because they officially withdrew just before braun's financial problems were exposed and you can't take back your withdrawal. ouch.

the american classic "THE ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN" is being censored by NEWSOUTH PUBLICATIONS as they have chosen to substitute the word 'slave' for 'nigger' and while i'm sure their intentions are good, rewriting history to be politically correct is ridiculous. the treatment of slaves was abhorrent but it's part of history and that's how we learn. what's next, rewriting the holocaust?

a state tax hike for four years to get illinois out of debt? i'm for it but only if the long range plan for stability is made public. also, who gets paid first from our mountain of debts? schools? mental health facilities? the dreaded pension funds? let's hear it.

speaking of pensions, new police & firemen now have to wait until the age of 55 to start collecting their pensions instead of 50 and that's way too old to be working the highway and climbing ladders. i'm in favor of pension caps and the elimination of bogus raises on the last day of employment but not everyone gets promoted to an office position. chasing gang bangers down the alley at 55? or carrying victims over your shoulder down a ladder?

finally, a woman in portland super-glued her sleeping husband's fingers to his penis to teach him a lesson about cheating. when placed in cuffs, the outraged woman said "i was only doing what my mother did to my father." isn't it nice to see that traditional family values are still being passed from one generation to the next? bye for now

FOR WOMEN ONLY

back in october, i warned you that chicago mayoral candidate carol mosely braun was considered by many to be one of the most corrupt politicians in the history of that city......... and that's really saying something. shady financial dealings have haunted her for years and she always had a snippy attitude towards reporters who asked for disclosure. well, the monster rose again this week when she told reporters that she wasn't going to release her tax returns because "i don't want to" which caused an immediate uproar from the other candidates. forced to make them public, we find that the delightful ms. braun is a financial disaster with FOUR mortgages (yes, FOUR!) on her house and not a penny to her name. and this woman wants to run the cash strapped city?? bye-bye carol. nice knowing you.

two days before christmas, a guy stands in line at the dunkin' donut shop and drops a wad of cash on the floor but doesn't realize it. 63 yr. old woman behind him picks up the $500 rubber banded roll and in the spirit of the holiday........no, sorry. she pockets it and hurries out. arrested for theft a week later when she returned for donuts. nice lady.

is it just me or does michelle obama look like she pumps iron on a regular basis?

i've never seen "jersey shore" but i sure see a lot of the three women. 'snooki' endorses EVERYTHING from nuts to fuzzy slippers, 'j-woww' (ya gotta love these names) has authored several books on picking up guys and the social scene in general and 'sammi' gets 15k for a personal appearance.
and i'm told they have zero talent.

lindsay lohan. i give up.

this is sort of a woman tidbit. elton john paid 2 million for the apartment next to his so new son zach will have a place to play. silly me. this is the same guy who spends 10k a week on fresh flowers. arrrrrgh.

i see where kirstie alley now says she's lost 80 pounds. yeah, and she was a size 8 on oprah two years ago. please.

how about the woman who caught what appeared to be a record breaking car-winning walleye while ice fishing in northern wisconsin? her excited husband ran to the car to get the camera and tape measure but when he returned, the fish was gone. the wife explained, "he looked really cold laying on the ice so i put him back in the water." no word on the condition of the husband. or the marriage.

finally...........in colorado, a serial rapist with four prior victims confronted a potential fifth victim and threatened to 'punch her face in' unless she co-operated. the victim (now read this carefully) reacted by kicking him in the HEAD with her right foot and followed that with a left kick to his jaw, breaking it in three places and knocking out five teeth. the bad guy falls to his knees but then rises and comes towards her. she sets herself and promptly kicks his ear OFF with her right foot (wearing a cowboy boot with silver toe taps helps) and finishes him off with a left kick to the ribs which breaks three of those. turns out the 'victim' had just finished teaching her advanced martial arts class, specializing in 'attack when threatened' situations. the rapist confessed to everything.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
