CUBS AGAIN?

my head is starting to really hurt.

the CHICAGO CUBS continue to make the correct moves for a rebuilding team by trading 31 year old utility man JEFF BAKER to the tigers for two players to be named later, presumably minor leaguers. traditionally, the tigers would make up a list of a dozen or so players in the minors and the cubs get to pick any two.  they won't be superstars but they will be young.

AND THEN (be still my heart!) the cubs do another thing correctly and call up  3B JOSH VITTERS, 22,  & CF BRENT JACKSON, 24 and instantly put jackson in the lineup against the dodgers for his major league debut and voila! he has two hits early in the game. while this is going to be painful for a couple of seasons, these two have been waiting in the minors and quite frankly, the cubs have nothing to lose.  find out what the kids can do now.

vitters completes the infield core with RIZZO, BARNEY, CASTRO and VITTERS/VALBUENA. not bad.

JACKSON will play center field and you build around him.

if your name is SHAWN CAMP, 36, DAVID DEJESUS, 33, or ALFONSO SORIANO, 36..............................it's probably not a good time to buy a house in the chicago area.

cubs fans, nothing is going to change for the next two years as the cubs will continue to lose but you're used to that and have been for over a hundred years. doing it the right way takes time but when you mix a bunch of talented kids with just a couple of big time free agents, 2015 could start a lot of fun on the north side.

i need an aspirin. or two.
