AND SPEAKING OF GOOD TIMES......Due to the pandemic and basic lack of sports, i was left with just two gambling options over the last couple of months and i can't see betting on guys making left turns all afternoon so, being a new golf whore, i decided to take one golfer every week after the odds were posted and root him on to victory. Well, despite having several Saturday leaders the past month, i have bellied up like a perch needing oxygen when the final round happened on Sunday.........................................UNTIL YESTERDAY!!!! My man, JON RAHM of Spain won the JACK NICKLAUS MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT and took me to the promised land at 25-1 odds!!!
And just to let you in on the fun, this week i have TOMMY FLEETWOOD from Ireland at 14-1. zippidee-do-dah!

Accused sex offender R. Kelly has diabetes and wants to be sent home instead of sitting in the federal detention center in Chicago. Poor baby. Tell you what...I'll drive his medicine to the hospital just to make sure he's healthy. RK, you don't want to get out because it's too dangerous on the streets with gangs, drugs, etc. Hell, rk, there's even pedophiles out there.

Slow week for Chicago. Only 70 shot and 10 murders. nice.

Tell me why an over-the-road trucker making $82,000 a year would still choose to live in the gang infested, crime riddled Austin neighborhood? That's exactly where VERNON FLUCKERS lived. until July 11th. when he took three in the chest. in freaking Austin. It just makes no sense. The jungle is a dangerous place from north to south and up to the west side. Why live in Austin? For that matter, why live in Chicago? It's a cesspool from top to bottom and no matter where in the jungle you choose to live, it's just plain dangerous.

I saw something on ESPN last night that looked interesting. It featured a bunch of men wearing different uniforms playing a game called baseball. It's apparently not very popular because no one came to see them play. Maybe it was because the team from the south side was so much better than the north side. I'd like to see more of this event.

Note to my sister: FINGERHUT is still in business. Just saw an ad in a magazine and it looked like they're selling the same stuff from 50 years ago. DO NOT order my birthday present from them and definitely don't order 'panchos for everyone' for Christmas.

Guess what's making a comeback?? DRIVE-IN MOVIE THEATRES!! Since the first one opened in New Jersey in 1933 and charged .25 per car, drive-ins became very popular, especially in the 1950's when over 5,000 dotted America but then they eventually died off as cars became much smaller and most homes had a color tv and a vcr.
But in today's world, the drive-in is a perfect place to enforce social distancing and besides movies, on certain nights they're now showing big time concerts using the car's FM to broadcast it. (Garth Brooks had one recently) I thought i'd check to see if it was still just a quarter per car but the nearby Mchenry drive-in charges THIRTY DOLLARS per car with a limit of 4 people.
If you want to learn more about drive-ins and their locations, go to FACEBOOK and find "drive-in movie theater fan club."

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERNEST HEMINGWAY! He would be 121 today but his "The old man and the sea" is still a classic read. If you haven't, settle in and root for Santiago. or the fish. your choice.

A chuckle for you: A man running a busy laundromat in Milwaukee kept hearing the laughter and cheering of little boys in the area of the concession machines. Being more than a little curious, he walked over and saw one 4 year old standing on a chair in front of the munchies machine and up on his tip toes to put a quarter in the machine. His cohort, also 4 yoa, would then press the button and the chips would drop down. And squealing and laughter would ensue.
Now the manager knows that it takes a dollar for any bag of chips so he's totally confused so he stays out of sight but gets closer to the action. After a couple of minutes, he cracks up laughing. Turns out the machine was malfunctioning and every time the boys put in just a quarter, they would get a bag of chips AND .75 cents in change so the one on the floor would get the quarters out of the refund area and hand them up to the boy on the chair and they would do it all over again.
The manager allowed them to keep the NINE BAGS of chips and four dollars in quarters before hanging the 'out of order' sign on the machine. nice guy.

I see protesters are still getting right in the face of police officers and all it takes is one verbal threat or one touch to activate the arrest procedure. And please don't complain when you resist his order and end up on the ground as the officer uses the force necessary to effect the arrest.
That officer is taught to put you on the ground as soon as you say 'no' to his lawful order to put your hands behind your back and again, don't whine when your face gets bruised when it hits the ground. Peacefully or non-peacefully, either way you're getting cuffed and going to jail. How it happens is up to you.

A little factoid for you: The jewel had a sale this week on sirloin steaks. normally, it's 12.99 a pound but the sale price was 6.99. Later in the day, i was reading one of my old newspapers and in 1997, it was 2.99 a pound.

Investment tip from 1988. APPLE STOCK was selling for ten cents (.10) a share. It is now at $400 per share give or take. How many shares did you buy? a ten dollar buy would be worth .......you ready for this?.........1.25 MILLION because the stock had a two for one split twice which got you to 400 shares. not bad. But the last split was 7 for 1 so you suddenly owned 2800 shares. not bad for ten bucks.
