THE PLAYOFF CANDLE STILL FLICKERS

Props when props are deserved. MITCH TRUBISKY was excellent last night as the BEARS kept the playoff candle flickering with a 31-24 victory over the jeckyll & hyde DALLAS COWBOYS. trubisky used his legs to roll out and ran when the opportunity was there and other than one glaring mistake in the first quarter, he was pretty good throwing the football. One down and three to go on the DECEMBER DEATH MARCH. and now on to green bay.

Speaking of the packers, don't expect them to be law abiding citizens when trubisky takes off running a week from sunday.
When a quarterback runs, he has only two options available to end the play and that is to run out of bounds or do a baseball slide which immediately kills the play. the NFL rulebook is clear: "it shall be deemed a personal foul when any player is contacted out of bounds or when he slides feet first to stop a play." Now last night when mitch did either of those, the cowboy defenders jumped over him, ran by him or stopped short of contact.....as it should be.

However, the bears are heading into cheap shot country and just be aware that the kings of thuggery have had a long reputation of playing after the whistle and don't be surprised when yellow flags rain after one of his baseball slides....and then pray he doesn't get hurt by one of those future convicts.

Now a quick review of trubisky. the last three games, he's been pretty decent but still not against a team with a winning record and as a matter of fact, other than the 16-6 win over minnesota in september, the bears haven't won a game all year against a team that is over .500. but now's the time if they're serious abount the wild card. they have to run the table including the 12/29 game in minnesota and hope that the vikings stumble on more time against either the LIONS, THE CHARGERS on the west coast and then the packers and bears at home. But all you can do is take care of your own business.

THE WHITE SOX suffered a huge free agent disappointment when ZACH WHEELER signed with philadelphia for less money. wheeler said it was a family decision to stay on the east coast plus continue to play in a division he was vary familiar with from playing with the METS. and now it's on to MADISN BAUMGARTEN and somebody to play right field.

The cubs have prettymuch thrown in the towel and either KRIS BRYANT or WILLSON CONTRERAS will be traded soon for a group of minor leaguers and then the non-starters from 2019 will be regulars.   ish.

But kudos to the cubs for finally deep sixing that wife beating bastard, addison russell. With the climate being what it is, let's see if anyone signs the non-superstar domestic abuser. but why did it take them a year to do it?
