Back on july 8th, i wrote that police superintendent EDDIE JOHNSON would not be able to work with LORI LIGHTFOOT and would soon announce his retirement. it took just four months for that to happen as johnson announced his retirement this week.
Lightfoot is every cop's worst nightmare, a micro manager who has to have her fingers in every pie, no matter how small. she loves weekly meetings which cops hate because sometimes police work leaves you no time for 'waste of time' meetings.
Simply put, most day to day police work is none of her business.

The state of Illinois constantly makes me shake my head. they're broke and they admit it but in June, the new governor signed an expanded gambling bill which approved six new casinos and sports betting and everyone hoped the sports books would be up and running by football season. slow your roll, dude. the state is still drafting paperwork and MIGHT be open by super bowl. might.
However, in Indiana, the hoosiers have taken advantage of the sloths in Illinois government and had their sports books open in time for football season. SO WHAT, you say? well, let me explain it to you, linda. Indiana is is currently realizing $843, 000 per month based on the 9.24% theyve collected off each wager in the brick & mortar sports books, who paid $75,000 for their license.
However, in Illinois, they want TEN MILLION DOLLARS for a
license and a mere 15% of the action or 17% if you operate in cook county, and they're STILL FIGHTING over who gets what percentage of the initial cut. Indiana officials continue to rub their hands with glee and keep telling Illinos, "take your time boys, take your time."

business man of the month: a student in Minnesota, where they don't have KRISPY KREME stores, drives to Iowa every week and brings back a hundred dozen which he then sells for $20 a dozen. KK got all twisted up when they heard he was doing this and ordered him to stop. i still haven't figured out why---as long as he pays for the hundred dozen, what do they care what he does with them? student calls KK attorneys direct and explains he pays for his tuition this way AND he takes all the risk. they call off the dogs AND give him coupons for 500 dozen to help him along. nice.

and finally, SEARS/KMART announced they were closing 96 more stores which shocked me because i didn't even know they were still in business. brick & mortar stores have been rapidly disappearing over the last 10 years and quite frankly, with a few exceptions, they are all doomed.
I just ordered sweatpants yesterday and never left my office and they'll be on my doorstep wednesday. why go out in the cold ?
