WHAT A GREAT WEEK FOR ME!!! it started off with notre dame getting pounded on the biggest stage of the year and it ends with the packers getting crushed by the 49ers. now all the real football begins but a few parting words from college football.
ever wonder why people hate notre dame so much? read on......
BRIAN TE'O, the father of linebacker MANTI, is mad at the honululu star newspaper for running a FACTUAL & UNTOUCHED photo of his son missing a tackle against alabama and wants everyone to cancel their subscriptions. manti, who spent more time on his back that night than a cheap hooker, was manhandled for the entire game and missed BUNCHES of tackles but dad feels it's "unfair" to publish a photo showing golden boy in a bad light. what a moron.
even MORE MORONIC was nose tackle LOUIS NIX' statement that "we were not dominated by alabama." louis, while i realize academics is probably not your strong suit, when a team has almost 550 of offense and leads at one point 35-0................you WERE DOMINATED. dumb ass.
the previous paragraphs pretty much say it all about notre dame. "it's never our fault and we're better than everyone else." but there's more.....
BRIAN KELLY, the overmatched coach in the BCS title game, went plying his wares in philadelphia as he interviewed for the eagles job after telling everyone two weeks earlier that he was 'perfectly content' at notre dame. I'M SHOCKED that kelly would lie!! oh wait, let's turn the clock back to 2009 when kelly told his cincinnati bearcat football team that he was "happy in cincinnati and my family is happpy in cincinnati and i plan on coaching here for a long time." two weeks later, at the football banquet, he announced he was taking the notre dame job.
i say he's the perfect guy for notre dame.
the weekend playoffs were great and how much does retiring linebacker RAY LEWIS love the game? happy to see him get one more game but it looks like the PATRIOTS are going to the super bowl. when you watch the patriots, you realize two things. 1) just how far the bears have to go and 2) JAY CUTLER is just 'ok' as a quarterback and the bears have zero chance to win a super bowl with him at the wheel.
the NFL has changed to offense, offense, offense which is a far cry from just ten years ago when "defense won championships" but not anymore. the goal now is to score a lot of points and play defense by keeping the other team's offense off the field. and if they do score, have enough firepower to come right back down the field. patriots, niners, falcons, packers, broncos and the vikings are just a few examples of teams that do that. WHO CARES if they score 30 points as long as we score 31. 'ground & pound' is rapidly going the way of the dinosaur.
don't agree? well, five teams have drafted quarterbacks in the last year who run the 'zone read' offense which carves you up 4-12 yards at a time and opens WIDE alleys for these qb's to take advantage of defenses who are scrambling in deep coverage. check out the teams with dead pocket passers.....pittsburgh, detroit, giants, jets, dallas, raiders, jaguars, chargers etc and what do they all have in common?? no playoffs.
enough for now.
