NOTHING BUT SPORTS

There is so much to talk about in the sports world that I'll never get to it all but let's give it a shot..........

First, CONGRATS to the university of GEORGIA, who crushed the crimson tide of ALABAMA and won their first title since 1980 when HERSHEL WALKER was running thru people en route to a 12-0 record and squashing NOTRE DAME in the sugar bowl.

Speaking of notre dame. the DALLAS COWBOYS are the NFL's answer to the fighting irish.....over rated, over stated and pieces of crap when it comes to a big game. The COWBOYS committed 14 freaking turnovers today AT HOME against SAN FRANCISCO and spit the bit 23-17. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I've always said that if you lose in the wild card round, you didn't belong there in the first place. Now the 9ers head to Green Bay.  Brrrrrrrrrr.

Happy retirement to JON LESTER who rides off into the sunset with THREE world series rings, two with the RED SOX and one with the CUBS. A class guy who always had time for the media, Lester was 200-117 and a 5 time all-star. Hall of Famer? I don't root for the CUBS but because of the three rings, I think he belongs.

The CHICAGO BEARS entertained Chicago with their latest version of the CLOWN SHOW when GEORGE MCCASKEY ran a press conference attempting to explain the state of the Bears. What an idiot. I commend them for whacking both the coach and GM but now you have to pick the right guys to propel this team back to the top and it's doubtful that "CURIOUS GEORGE" can accomplish that. "I'm a fan , not a talent evaluator" says it all. Then what the hell is he doing being on the selection committee?

By the way, is JUSTIN FIELDS the real deal? just asking.

If AARON RODGERS  bails out on Green Bay, then the NFC NORTH is wide open which makes it even more important to get the right staff in place because the division will be wide open. So the Bears hire a 79 year old guy whose been out of football for 10 years as the chief advisor to find a general manager. WHAT?

I am deliriously happy that Australia told NOVAL DJOKOVIC to pound sand and get the fuck out of our country. Feel free to come back after you get vaccinated. Jagwad thought because he was the 9 time champ that he could just bully his way into the AUSTRALIAN OPEN without being vaccinated. Not so, amigo.  Adios.

Looking forward to the opening of spring training in a few weeks? Me too but I think a big delay is coming as the owners and the union salute each other with middle fingers. History repeating itself again....and again....and again.

The BULLS were playing some decent basketball until this week when they got destroyed by the BROOKLYN NETS and the GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS in successive games and then lost to the CELTICS in Boston. They need a big  man real bad.

The BLACKHAWKS are a very strange team. Win 4, lose 4 but the problem is they lost their first NINE games this season which put them behind the 8-ball for the playoffs. They're currently 8 points behind the final playoff spot with SEVEN TEAMS between them and the last spot. NO CHANCE. FYI.... since losing the first 9, the HAWKS are 14-9-5 but I'm afraid too little, too late.

Get well wishes to Hall of Famer CHRIS EVERT in her fight against early stage ovarian cancer. Her sister JEANNE died from the same type of cancer last year. Evert is 67.

FINALLY! MLB and ESPN finally dumped ALEX RODRIGUEZ as the lead analyst from Sunday night baseball and replaced him and lead man MATT VASGERIAN with KARL RAVECH, DAVID CONE and EDUARDO PEREZ. Rodriguez and Vasgerian were like listening to fingernails on a blackboard as they talked about everything but the game. Can't wait until real baseball starts again on Sunday night.

The WHITE SOX made some news during the lockout by signing two studs, one from Cuba and one from the Dominican Republic as the signing period started for International Players. The Sox were badly in need of new blood in their system after calling up a half dozen players from their minor league system over the last two seasons and falling in rank to #30 after being ranked #3 in 2019.

It's cold outside and it felt good to write about baseball. CIAO FOR NOW.
