What a time for my computer to die! so much happening so let's try to catch up.
MANNY RAMIREZ? MANNY RAMIREZ? even the strongest cub fan has to be shaking his head. "he's going to mentor our minor leaguers and show them the ropes" is exactly what came out of JED HOYER'S mouth. a quick review of manny's career.....two suspensions for PED's, the second for 100 games which forced his retirement. WALKING to first base on a grounder to short because he wanted to be traded from cleveland and coming late to the park because he just didn't feel like being on time. yeah, that's the guy i want working with my prospects.
kudos to the BLACKHAWKS for their long run in the playoffs before losing to a better team. the hawks are the best overall team in chciago and should be a power house for another five years.
i still want to be JEFF SAMARDZIJA'S agent because that guy is going to ring the big money bell when he signs his next contract. maybe then he can afford a haircut.
maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part but the CHICAGO BEARS look like real super bowl contenders with the added muscle on defense. now just keep JAY CUTLER upright.
and good luck to JORDAN LYNCH, a free agent signee from MOUNT CARMEL high school trying to win a spot as a running back behind MATT FORTE. lynch is a likeable local kid who took NIU to several bowl games.
WORLD CUP FEVER????? no.
SPURS/HEAT. whoyagot???? i think the spurs can handle LBJ & friends in a long series and wouldn't that be the perfect way for superstar TIM DUNCAN to ride off into the sunset?
speaking of hoops, if DERRICK ROSE is healthy and the bulls replace CARLOS BOOZER with either KEVIN LOVE or CARMELO ANTHONY, aren't they immediate contenders?
the critique on both is lack of defense but did boozer ever stop a shot in his four years?
and disregard all the rumors about COACH THIBS heading to another team. he knows how close the bulls are and with the heat running out of time, thibs sees the possibilities of controlling the eastern conference if they're healthy.
the WHITE SOX have surprised most of the prognosticators by playing .500 baseball despite some brutal injuries. GM RICK HAHN did a great job by bringing in JOSE ABREU & ADAM EATON in the off season which has helped the pale hose survive the frequent visits to the emergency room. they're not contenders but they're fun to watch on offense.
more next week.
