MANY thoughts on chicago sports

what the hell is wrong with PATRICK SHARP? it's like he's a professional magician and disappeared when the playoffs started.  how do you not have even one assist when you're centering for PATRICK KANE, MARION HOSSA & BRIAN BICKELL, just to name a few.  he mishandles the puck constantly, shoots right into the crest of the goal tender and couldn't thread a pass if his life depended on it. maybe sharp, who is 32, has suddenly grown old and the speed of the game has passed him by. we've seen it happen before.

if anyone stops at a wal-mart, please pick up a dvd for 'fundamental hockey' and overnight it to NICK LEDDY who tried his hardest to piss the game away friday night. attacking the net from his defensive wing in the third period and missing EVERYTHING with his slap shot resulted in a 2 on 1 break and eventual tying goal for the blues. a little later, he turned the puck over at the blue line and only a good stick by hossa prevented another breakaway. wake up.

speaking of dumb, TONY SNELL of the bulls clinched the moron crown for friday night when he fouled JOHN WALL beyond the arc with FIVE SECONDS LEFT and the bulls holding a five point lead. wall, of course, sinks all three foul shots and the bulls had to sweat out what should have been a walk away win.  and the worst part was the look on snell's face clearly indicated that he had NO IDEA what he had done wrong.  hey, dumb ass......there's no reason to attempt a steal when the opposition is down 5 with no time outs left. memo to COACH THIBS: rookies don't belong on the court during the last minute of a close game, especially in the playoffs.

can the BULLS actually survive losing the first two games of this series?

how exciting are the WHITE SOX???? they may not win anything but boy, they just don't quit. they hit and hit and then hit some more. they've scored the most runs of any team but they've also let in the second most.

JOSE ABREU electrified the SOX faithful friday ninth with a walk off grand slam and set a major league record for the most home runs in april by a rookie with 9. too bad they have no bullpen and still can't play defense.  despite being handed the HARDEST april schedule in mlb, a .500 month is a definite possibility.

oh, you don't think their schedule was that bad? 3 in kansas city (a death trap for the sox), 2 in colorado (where the rockies win 70% of their home games) 4 against cleveland, SIX against the tigers, 4 vs. tampa bay, 3 vs the red sox and 3 vs. texas. four playoff teams and the defending world champions.  difficult schedule but so far, they're surviving.

speaking of surviving, how long until RICK (or is it RICKY) RENTERIA starts feeling a little heat? his 'ball club' hasn't won a series the entire month despite having the EASIEST schedule in mlb. a declining cincinnati team for 6 games, a pittsburgh team that lost all of it's pitching for 6 more, arizona for 4 & a bad philly team for three.  they only had 5 games against playoff caliber teams and lost 4 of them.

think they're doing bad now? wait until may. six against the brewers, SEVEN vs. the cardinals and four against the white sox PLUS a seven game trip to the west coast. oh yeah, and two more against the yankees. i'm guessing TWENTY GAMES UNDER .500 by the end of the month.

JEFF SAMARDZIJA can't wait for that phone call telling him he's been traded because he is wasting his talents on the north side and you have to believe that TRAVIS WOOD will also be crossing his fingers for a phone call.

how bad are they? even the field museum didn't want the giant birthday cake for the 100th anniversary and tossed it in the trash dumpster which is where most of that roster belongs.

and by the way, 'WRIGLEY' field won't be a hundred years old until 2026. they even screwed that up.

but the cubs do have CLARK THE MASCOT and buffalo burgers.

bye for now
