just some thoughts

what ever happened to the winter snow armageddon? we were supposed to be knee deep in the white stuff by thanksgiving and experience record amounts for the winter. for records to be broken, january & february need to be very special. poppycock.

is it just me or do people from wisconsin seem to be a little slower? congressman jim sensenbrenner publicly makes a derogatory comment about michelle obama's backside and implies that she's not doing enough to diet within her "Let's Move" program. now i haven't noticed her posterior one way or the other but there's one thing i can tell you for sure: michelle obama is the MOST ACTIVE FIRST LADY in the history of our nation and she works out on a regular basis. sensenbrenner? fifty pounds overweight. attack her policies and her politics but derogatory PERSONAL comments about the first lady from a member of congress? he's a moron.

ferry services in the united states began losing revenue on december 1st because the coast guard set new weight standards for passengers and the increase to 185 pounds limits the amount of passengers the boat is allowed to load on each trip because of weight limitations for the ferry. less people, less money. apparently, it use to gauge each passenger at 160 pounds.

my police report features a 62 year old woman hit 12 cars in the parking lot at children's memorial hospital in chicago around 6:30 p.m.. when asked, she said she had a "couple for lunch." legally drunk is .08 but her
breathalyzer result was .23............. just a couple.

herman cain? good riddance to bad trash.

breast implants in france have 'exploded' in more than a thousand women and the french government is pondering approval of 30,000 removal surgeries for the women who have that type of defective implant. the implants were filled with a cheap non-approved industrial silicone by a now defunct french company.

why is anyone surprised that ashton & demi finally called it quits? the surprise should be that it lasted this long.

kobe bryant's wife just tossed him for the same reasons demi tossed hers. not keeping it in your pants can be verrrrrrrrrrry expensive. some estimates are around $150 million for her and that doesn't count child support. so much for kobe's plan to retire soon.

rumor has it that kim 'peanut butter' kardashian is on the prowl for kobe and has long been attracted to him. is there anyone she hasn't slept with? her nickname? we all know that nothing spreads easier than peanut butter.
oh, stop rolling your eyes. like she doesn't deserve it!

finally, a real head scratcher: jim sak is a retired chicago police k-9 officer who moved to aurelia, iowa to be closer to his 87 year old mother. he then unfortunately suffered a stroke and has no feeling on one side of his body so he's been using his retired police dog as his service dog. so far so good.

but snickers the dog is PART pit bull and the small town has an ordinance since 2008 against that breed so jim had to ship to dog to a kennel while the matter is sorted out. enter the federal government: they inform the town that the american disabilities act gives jim the right to use ANY BREED as his service dog. your move, town people.

on december 14, the town council voted 3-2 AGAINST making an exception and said they would sieze and destroy the dog if it returned to jim's house. "the government doesn't make the rules here, we do." wow.

enter the ANIMAL FARM FOUNDATION who files suit on behalf of jim & snickers and also agree to pay the kennel bills. "this is just wrong. the guy needs a service dog and we support him 100%. if this town is that simple minded, they better have their wallets open and be prepared to pay."

your move, townies.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE!

sports thoughts

twenty years ago, when JIMMY JOHNSON was coaching the dallas cowboys, his punt returner fumbled consecutive kicks and even though the cowboys won that day, he immediately cut the player and stated that "when you get paid to play, you're expected to perform like a professional." his intention was too send that message to his entire team that no one is above playing at a high level. that said, lovie smith has no choice but to IMMEDIATELY release marion barber, who personally ended the bears playoff hopes by failing to fall down and stay inbounds. HOW HARD IS THAT? fall freaking down and the clock runs out. a) if he's that stupid, you don't want him. b) if he's a glory hound, you don't want him. c) if he hasn't learned the basics by now, he never will and you don't want him. see the pattern? any of the above means you dump his ass NOW.

and while we're discussing dumb asses, how about RYAN BRAUN? the "hebrew hammer" is apparently following in the footsteps of macguire, sosa, ramirez and palmiero by using banned substances to produce mvp numbers and lead his team to the playoffs. immediate denials, as usual, came from his camp which is the norm and his agent made the most telling statement: "there is no way that ryan KNOWINGLY took a banned substance." right. someone dropped it into his glass of mogen david wine......over & over & over & over again. FYI---MLB provides all players with a toll free number so they can get clearance for all supplements. too stupid to dial the number? then sit for 50 games and shuddup. too cocky and figure you won't get caught cheating? well, surprise, surprise. here's a suspension for hannukah. enjoy, you dumb ass.

KENNY WILLIAMS finally waved the white flag and used the "R" word this week which is his way of admitting he has screwed up the white sox for years too come. REBUILDING. how sad is that? the amazing part is that he's being allowed to correct his own mistakes which will take a minimum of 4 years as the white sox wallow near the cellar of the central division. adam dunn, jake peavy & alex rios will be here for all of it because WE'RE STUCK WITH THEM! three of the worst contracts in MLB that he negotiated and now HE gets to rebuild? he thinks attendance was lacking before? just wait, kenny, and you'll be seeing a lot of empty seats. maybe you can start your own section and name it the 'DUMB ASSES ONLY" section.

and what is it with cub fans?? RON SANTO finally gets elected to the hall of fame and deservedly so BUT rather than celebrate his induction, all cub fans can do is bitch and whine about him not getting in earlier. this is EXACTLY the sense of entitlement that makes most of major league baseball hate cub fans and everything to do with the north side. p.s. if you really want something to whine about, just take a close look at your ball park. it still is and always will be, a dump. and be ready to lose a hundred games this season. theo epstein this.

and finally, what is it with all these college football players going viral with their complaints when their head coach announces that he's leaving for a better opportunity? get it straight, you ghetto pieces of crap. when a man has a chance to quadruple his salary and coach in a major conference, he has every right to do that without you whining that he's abandoning you. that's the business world, not just coaching. bettering yourself and taking care of your family is life in a nutshell. you'll find out all about that the first time you appear in front of the parole board.

i have to take a sedative.

well, the day of reckoning for ROD BLAGOJEVICH finally arrived and his parting gift from federal judge JAMES ZAGEL was a smothering sentence of
14 years which should send a pretty clear message to area politicians that back door politics will no longer be met with a wink of the eye. but every dirty pol thinks he's too smart to get caught.

HERMAN CAIN is the worst type of public figure. despite overwhelming evidence, the slime ball continues to deny any improper behavior but drops out of the race citing 'family concerns' but denies anything improper with his secret 13 year 'friendship' that even his wife didnt know about. i'd love to be a fly on the wall at that dinner table.

on the other side of the coin, RAHM EMANUEL continues to amaze me with his vision and non-stop energy as he tries to fix a broken city. i hope that it's all about being a long time mover and shaker rather than a short term fixer but one has to wonder if a guy like him won't get bored after he's left his footprint on the city.

does MITT ROMNEY have too much base foundation to be overtaken by NEWT GINGRICH? newt's late push is running into obstacles like petition signatures, campaign offices, hiring professionals at this late date and just plain old dollars. remember, newt's people walked out on his campaign back in the summer and it was all over but the shouting at that point and he's already missed the deadline for signatures to get on the ballot in missouri for the february 7 primary. iowa is first up on january 3rd but gingrich's campaign offices have yet to open. the clock is ticking.

just read an article about sanitizing your house. kitchens have 100,000 times more germs than the bathroom. i immediately moved my microwave into the shower.

i've always enjoyed FRANK SINATRA and his song stylings but i just heard him singing 'silent night' and the only person more off-key with this song was my sister at grandma hatfield's house when i was a kid. i can't believe they let sinatra's version go public. just terrible.

this has been a great autumn for weather. already in december with just a trace of the white stuff and no drastic temperatures. guess mother nature is making up for the rainy july and wet spring. i guess if you live long enough, it all evens out.

done for now.

sports thoughts

hey, the bears lasted into december but you can only lose so many key players before the wheels come off the cart. watching caleb hanie trying to identify NFL defenses before he gets sacked is like waiting for the cubs to make it to the world series. GUARANTEED it ain't going to happen this year. the bears needed 3-1 from the afc west but they've dropped the first two and are heading to denver, the hottest team in the league and featuring the tim tebow show. ouch.

a little north of us, the packers are steamrolling towards an undefeated season after dumping the giants yesterday. don't think they're going to make it? ONE road game left in kansas city and home against oakland, the bears & lions. if they're still undefeated christmas night, they'll beat the bears by 25 points. pity the lions at lambeau the last day of the season if they're the final road block.

how's that for bad luck? kyle orton finally gets in the game....and lasts for exactly one play. DO NOT share a lottery ticket with this guy.

is LSU the best team in the history of college football? they played their worst half of football saturday and trailed at the break but still beat georgia by thirty-two points to win the SEC and gain a berth in the bcs championship. they've beaten EIGHT teams ranked in the top twenty and four of those were on the road, including the 9-6 winner AT alabama.
eight teams in the top twenty out of 13 games? unleashed monsters.

with neither team above .500 and both with fired head coaches, ucla & illinois will provide the best argument for 'too many bowl games' as they grace our tv screens on new year's eve in something called the FIGHT HUNGER BOWL in san francisco. the cause is great but a 6-7 team in a bowl game??

on that note, THIRTY FIVE BOWL GAMES will begin on december 17 with the NEW MEXICO BOWL featuring wyoming & temple. (quick--tell me in what city temple is located?) 35 games. think about that. playoffs, anyone?

tiger woods rings the bell after a couple years of personal issues. we all know it's not about the money. if he gets his swagger back, look out.

i think SIMEON is the #1 rated high school basketball team in the nation. if you get a chance to watch them play, give yourself a treat. if not in person, they're scheduled for six tv appearances over the season. JABARI PARKER is the man for the wolverines and it's a kick to watch him on the court.

adios (p.s. temple is in philadelphia)
