thoughts & things for june 17, 2010

twenty billion is a start but BP had better get that leak fixed pronto. you have to believe that no less than 5 of the management team are heading to jail after documents were released this week that clearly indicate supervisorsignoring safety standard problems that arrived via emails. immunity, anyone? start talking.

speaking of jail, rod blagojevich is still bouncing around like the mad hatter and loving every minute of the spotlite, even signing autographs on the steps of the federal court house. a very strange man. i hope he takes the stand because that would be great theater.

i agree with bill gates & warren buffett about donating half of your wealth to charity. exactly who gets my $153.12??

everyone catch the seattle video of the cop punching the "lady" when she tried to interfer with his arrest of her friend? amazingly, the "lady" immediately calmed down and was totally quiet after that while the cop continued to wrestle with his initial arrest. totally justified.

the blackhawk love in this town is incredible even though most of the two million at the parade probably never watched a game until the finals. if you want to have a little fun with a bandwagon member, have them name any ten members of the team with first and last name required and no mistakes. a great way to drink free beer all night.

congratulations to the four sponsors who covered the entire cost of the downtown parade. didn't cost the taxpayers a dime.

the sox & cubs? another blog.

wonder why things are so expensive? my ford expedition has an aluminum hood and i notice a small bubble about the size of a dime. i stop at the body shop and the estimate is $1600 dollars!!! the guy says they can't fix rust on aluminum permanently so they always replace the entire hood. (i got the same story and estimates at two other shops). i hope it hails soon.

this has to be the worst summer for movies in a decade. the theatres are empty and other than 3 films, it's a hollywood disaster. and one of those three is the 'a-team' remake which is pure crap.

everyone ready for a toasty summer? my buddy at the weather service, who has correctly predicted the last three summers (including the miserable 2009), says we will steam this summer thanks to el nina and some other factors. the warm-up starts now. enjoy.

have a safe summer!
