MR. JERRY REINSDORF
CHICAGO WHITE SOX
Dear Jerry,
Well, it took a while but you have finally broken me. my friend pete, who is an admitted fair weather fan, bailed on this team after only two weeks of the season but i, being a diehard, knew it would get better with a little patience................ but i was dead wrong.
this version of the white sox is an embarrassment to even occasional baseball fans and IT'S YOUR FAULT. Being loyal is an admirable quality but being loyal to a fault has brought this team to it's knees with no hope of recovery anytime soon.
You took a chance when you hired robin ventura four years ago. With no managing experience at any level, it was a calculated risk but YOUR experiment has been a failure and
for whatever reason, you either can't or won't recognize that fact and until you do, the downward spiral will continue. it's time for a changing of the guard and it needs to happen sooner rather than later because this season is already lost and you need to set a foundation for next year.
Since his first year managing ozzie's players to an 85-77 record in 2012, ventura has won just 42% of his games. now i don't care where you work, if you fail 58% of the time you are shown the door in rapid fashion. HOW CAN YOU LET THIS CONTINUE? he obviously can't manage and has made numerous mistakes well documented by the local media not to mention his inability to handle a bullpen which was magnified last year by his season long love affair with ronald belisario, who appeared in sixty-two games despite having the HIGHEST E.R.A. in the bullpen. everyone was screaming for his head but robin kept running him out there. absolutely no excuse for that but somehow, it doesn't seem to affect his employment status.
Or how about keeping tyler flowers as your starting catcher? a career average of .216 and last time i checked, he had only thrown out 2 of 31 base stealers. this is the best you have? flowers is 30 years old. do you think he's going to wake up one day soon and become johnny bench? MAKE A CHANGE NOW!
YOU ARE WASTING CAREERS. chris sale, jose abreu and avasail garcia deserve better and so do the fans but apparently you're too busy staring at the baseball konerko gave you from the final out of the world series.....TEN YEARS AGO. How sad is this? attendance has declined for seven consecutive years and although winter sales this past off-season will result in 1.9 million in ticket sales, the only category you'll lead is 'no shows.' who wants to watch a rudderless ship bobbing in the water?
I guarantee you that the real fans would loudly approve on field personnel changes RIGHT NOW. this roster has had 65 games to show their stuff and there's ten players on it who have failed miserably. bite the bullet and start moving some pieces. bring in people who can catch the ball and we'll worry about the offense as we go. too many holes to fill so at least play defense and let the other teams earn their wins.
With all of this in mind, effective today, UNTIL ROBIN VENTURA IS TERMINATED, i become a casual fan rather than a diehard. i will no longer watch 14o games every season and plan my summer evenings around the sox tv schedule. i'll switch to the MLB channel and get a glimpse of teams with owners who pay attention and stay competitive. i know a lot of my friends who read this will just think i'm blowing steam but this is the real deal.
IF YOU DON'T CARE, NEITHER DO I.
Good luck in the future.

IT JUST GETS WEIDER
RACHEL DOLEZAL continues to maintain that she's black despite miles of evidence showing her caucasian beginnings, which has led her to be ostracized by BOTH communities. the blacks are upset that they were sold a bill of goods and just want her to stop telling the lie and the whites are just laughing, especially when they see her childhood photo with blond hair & freckles. rachel, pay attention.......just hush up and go softly into the night. it's over.
speaking of loose cannons, DONALD TRUMP has announced his candidacy for president of the united states which even has republicans shaking their heads. now donald might be worth twenty billion but it's apparent he doesn't have an ounce of common sense and if there was every a republican out of touch with the masses, he is the poster child. donald's first tirade after throwing his hat in the ring was against mexico, stating that only rapists, drug dealers and criminals enter the u.s. and that he will build a border wall to keep out these criminals and MEXICO will pay for the wall! although donald wasn't clear about how he would get them to pay, he did say 'you have to let me handle that.' sure. FYI---trump is the 12th OFFICIAL candidate from the republicans.
on the other side of the fence, PRESIDENT OBAMA apparently had a top secret party for FIVE HUNDRED guests (how do you keep that secret?) and both STEVIE WONDER & PRINCE performed at the gala which the obamas paid for out of their own pocket. 'not a taxpayer dime was spent' according to a white house spokesman. hey, if the boss wants to pay for a party at his house, what's the big deal? i'm just upset that AL ROKER got invited and i didn't.
just a thought: is there anything worse than drinking orange juice right after you brush your teeth?
speaking of OJ, it was 22 years ago that the famous chase in the white bronco took place and captivated the nation. you knew it was big news when the network put the NBA finals game in a little square in the corner of your tv while the chase continued on the big screen.
a while back it was EBOLA and now it's MERS. the country of THAILAND had it's first confirmed death on wednesday and over the last month, SOUTH KOREA has had 23 deaths and 165 sickened by the virus and another SIX THOUSAND on home confinement for monitoring purposes. definitely something to watch.
we had a couple inches of rain recently and everyone complained about their basements where in texas, people are losing their HOUSES because rain is being measured in feet, not inches and the same area just got pounded over memorial day weekend. ouch.
finally, a woman in texas jumped into a swollen river and after 10 harrowing minutes in the torrent, rescued her 8 yr. old grandchild who had been swept away from the shoreline. when asked about her strong swimming skills, grandma told the firemen that she didn't know how to swim but she had to rescue her grandson. granny power!
enjoy the weekend! (and don't vote for donald trump)

A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING
Well, the anti-christ rose from the dead and declared her candidacy in new york over the weekend and now she's headed for iowa. HILLARY CLINTON, who has a ton of political baggage and will be attacked relentlessly by the republicans will finally have to come clean about BENGHAZI, the EMAIL SCANDAL while secretary of state and the WHITEWATER real estate scandal where everyone went to prison except the clintons as well as a dozen other episodes which raised eyebrows around the world.. as former heavyweight champion JOE LOUIS once said, "you can run but you can't hide." can't wait for the first debate.
******************************************************************************************************
But it ain't all seashells and balloons on the other side of the fence either. JEB BUSH, who wants YOUR vote for president, stated in his 1995 book PROFILES IN CHARACTER that unwed mothers should be publicly shamed and now he won't respond to a request to comment.......
the exact quote was: Public shaming would be an effective way to regulate the “irresponsible behavior” of unwed mothers, misbehaving teenagers and welfare recipients, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) argued in his 1995 book Profiles in Character. In a chapter called "The Restoration of Shame,” the likely 2016 presidential candidate made the case that restoring the art of public humiliation could help prevent pregnancies “out of wedlock.”
I wonder if mr. bush would also tar feather drunks or give them thirty lashes for public intoxication????. wait, didn't his brother GEORGE have a DUI back in his party days? i believe george was 30 when he got arrested in vermont AND PLED GUILTY. string the bastard up!
i hope jeb doesn't hear anyone admit to being a witch.................
********************************************************************************************************
The republicans, who are traditionally VERY slow learners, currently have TWENTY SIX DECLARED CANDIDATES for the presidency. twenty-six. ok boys, listen up. the election is just 17 months away and you have to stop the circle jerk and get behind your best candidate if you want to have a shot at beating the she-devil because she has the female and the latino vote locked up so you better close ranks and get to work. and no, SARAH PALIN is not a good candidate........ even if she can see russia from her back porch.
*********************************************************************************************************
on the local scene, get ready for a bumper crop of mosquitos very shortly. the late spring rains have set up a hatching cycle which will rival the worst population in the last 15 years. sunrise & sundown are the worst times and avoid shady areas ANYTIME if possible. standing water is needed for the eggs to hatch so take appropriate action around your property. FYI--only the females bite.
*************************************************************************************************************
what the hell was that bimbo prison guard thinking when she helped the two murderers escape from a new york prison? anytime there's an escape, the EMPLOYEES are always investigated first.....especially when they check themself into a hospital the day of the escape. already under investigation for official misconduct prior to the escape, she now faces 25 years worth of charges BUT if either of the escapees commits a serious crime, she will be charged with the same crimes under the ACCOUNTABILITY STATUTE. a prison guard sent to prison......bad karma there.
*******************************************************************************************************
remember the old INDIAN MOTORCYCLE? since going bankrupt in 1953, the name has been owned by numerous companies but now the snowmobile company, POLARIS, has re-tooled the bike and production is underway once again. the first illinois shop will open in LIBERTYVILLE this month. wouldn't you look good on this? c'mon, think about it.

MORE STUFF
So the CUBS want to play with the big boys, eh? well, it's time they made a MAJOR move and traded for a shut down closer, which is the only way you make the post season. we all know that PEDRO STROP, JASON MOTTE and HECTOR RONDON are not the answer. so out of the goodness of my heart, i offer this deal to the cubs.
AROLDIS CHAPMAN is the 100 MPH soon-to-be-free agent closer for the REDS who are going nowhere this year. now remember that you have to give to get. offer them STARLIN CASTRO and their choice of either JAVY BAEZ or KYLE SCHWARBER plus ANY pitcher out of their minor league system for chapman. yes, chapman may walk away at the end of 2016 but he will solve the only major problem you have on the team THIS YEAR and he'll do it for two years. castro has been a pain in the ass for several years and is uncoachable. schwarber and baez are still in the minors for a reason. they don't fit in with the cubs lineup so use them as bait.
chapman is an animal and makes 8 million which means next year in arbitration he gets 11 million. think about it before you start whining. i realize this is not a position the cubs are used to but it's what post season teams do every year and you didn't trade for all those prospects NOT to use them to make your team better via more trades.
do it before someone else does. the NATIONALS are already sniffing around because they think they can make a run for it. if you believe your offense is good enough AND your starters are good enough, THAT LEAVES JUST ONE THING. A FREAKING CLOSER.
contenders or pretenders? we'll see.
********************************************************************************************************
LEBRON JAMES leads the NBA finals in two categories: scoring and crying to the officals. just once, i wish they would 'T' him up to shut him up. the world's greatest player and the most unlikeable player in the league. it's evident his team is out of gas and that the warriors are just too good. LBJ could be the finals MVP even if his team loses.
****************************************************************************************************
is monday night prime rib night in chicago? the BLACKHAWKS are 60 minutes away from lifting the cup and doing it on home ice for the first time since 1938. the fans deserve it. btw, if you want a standing room ticket, they're running about $1200 apiece. last row of the 300 level behind the net is running $2,000 and if you want first row on the blue line glass, it's 25k per seat. rumor has it that actor VINCE VAUGHAN bought 4. the difference between tampa and chicago? the nephews hit the game saturday night in florida and got nosebleeds for $500. they said it was about 50/50 chicago/tampa fans.

HOW MUCH LONGER?
The situation on the south side is now getting laughable. win one, lose one. win another one but then lose two. be last in every important statistic and for the second year in a row, a non-responsive WHITE SOX team is flat lining on the field and being led to the morgue by MR. EMOTION, robin ventura, who will never be confused for a RHODES SCHOLAR.
enjoy these nuggets: "i might consider another leadoff hitter but i'd rather he work his way out of the slump. SLUMP? hey doofus, wake up! ADAM EATON is seventy points UNDER last year's average after 54 games and shows no signs of coming out of it. that's more than a slump, it's a disaster and when your OBP is less than .300, you shouldn't be anything other than eighth or ninth in the lineup if you're playing at all. geez, i just want to punch ventura right in the face.
AMERICAN PHAROAH was top shelf all the way yesterday as he won the triple crown with a wire to wire finish in the BELMONT STAKES. i have to admit i was worried when he took the lead at the start because the distance of that race has wilted a dozen triple crown contenders in the past but jockey VICTOR ESPINOZA said, "when we took the first turn, i knew we were good. nobody was going to catch us." that's what they call 'knowing your merchandise.'
the CUBS are beginning to sink in the central division by playing at a .500 pace for over a month and the pirates have passed the cubs in the standings by winning at an .800 clip over their last 15 games. hey cub fans, nothing wrong with being .500 because it's a vast improvement over recent years. if they play .500 the rest of the year, they finish 83-79 and fans can start mixing the kool-aid (again) for 2016.
ok, here's a layup question for cub fans. which team in chicago has the highest team batting average? let's hear it for the cubs! uh, sorry but that's wrong. the white sox, unbelieveably, average 6 more points than the north siders. (but not in the games i watch)
hey, WOMEN'S WORLD CUP SOCCER HAS STARTED!...................never mind. i lost my mind for a minute.
are the BLACKHAWKS in trouble? naw. they'll win both games on madison and still win it in six games but what's the deal with TAMPA GOALIE BEN BISHOP? pulls himself out of the game TWICE in the third period of a stanley cup finals game. injury? illness? stress?
no matter the issue, that's the worst possible scenario for the hawks because if bishop doesn't return, they'll have to face UNKNOWN rookie goalie ANDRE VASILEVSKIY, whom they have never faced other than ten minutes last night. i guarantee you the hawks want bishop in the net.
on the betting scene, the blackhawks opened as slight favorites for monday night and the public then pounded the hawks up to -150. is this a freebie from the bookies? we'll see.
in the NBA, the WARRIORS are 8 point favorites tonight and 4-1 to win the championship. LEBRON almost won game one by himself but now the CAVS have lost KYRIE IRVING for the rest of the series so the outlook is grim. BUT DESPITE WHAT HAPPENS TONIGHT, look for LBJ & company to be favored when they go back to cleveland.
MARTELLUS BENNETT of the BEARS wants a new contract? NO PROBLEM. as soon as your current one expires. be a man and do your job.
and speaking of the bears, they're 5 point underdogs in their home opener against the packers in september. yes, i know. hard to believe.
that's it. enjoy your week!

on the betting scene, the blackhawks opened as slight favorites for monday night and the public then pounded the hawks up to -150. is this a freebie from the bookies? we'll see.
in the NBA, the WARRIORS are 8 point favorites tonight and 4-1 to win the championship.
NO PROBLEM. as soon as your current one expires. be a man and do your job.
and speaking of the bears, they're 5 point underdogs in their home opener against the packers in september. yes, i know. hard to believe.
that's it. enjoy your week!

the mark of a champion??? stumble thru game one for 50 minutes, get thoroughly outplayed yet still find a way to win and steal home ice advantage with two late goals. the BLACKHAWKS might be in a position to win it in four. i didn't think that was possible but if they win saturday night, start setting up the police barricades in grant park.
most wins in the month of may in chicago? well, if you guessed the little boys on the north side, guess again. THE WHITE SOX with 15 wins ruled the month of may.
ok, let's try again. which team is closer to first place? surely, it's the mega-machine of the north side that's going to rule the world, right? wrong again. sox are closer to first. (this is the SAME one you missed a couple of blogs ago)
are you excited about FRED HOIBERG? this guy says he wants to "run the floor and push the ball and the tempo." he does realize he took the bulls job? run with this team? i can see it now. JO NOAH on one leg leading the fast break with TAJ GIBSON & 35 year old PAU GASOL...............i don't think so. he has to retool the machine if he wants to run and that will take him at least two years with the contracts he has. maybe NAZR MOHAMMED can handle the ball?
biggest disappointment in chicago baseball this season? that piece of crap the WHITE SOX got from the cubs via oakland, JEFF SAMARDZIJA, who is lifeless on the mound and pouts like he's DERRICK ROSE'S roommate. 3-2 over his last seven starts with a 5.68 era. and this guy TURNED DOWN eighty-five million? lots of luck.
did the CUBS get JON LESTER too late? his whip has never been higher nor has his hits allowed per nine innings ever been greater. the cubs went 'all in' for a hundred and fifty-five million and i think they were hoping for more than a 4-4 record after eleven starts. extrapolate the numbers for the rest of the season and he finishes 12-12 or about two million dollars per win. mistake? we'll see.
the HOUSTON ASTROS finally removed their administrative head from their backside and announced the TAL'S HILL will be removed for next year. good riddance. pay a centerfielder seven million a year and then watch him pop a hamstring when he hits the base of the hill at full speed. or tear up a knee. or cost your team a game because you're playing on a park district field. and YES, all three of those things have happened. MLB never should have approved that in the first place.
stupid to begin with and stupid now.
do you remember ALLAN IVERSON'S tirade about "practice. we're talking about practice" back in 2006 after he was suspended by the team for missing practice? iverson now admits he was "drunk on my ass" when he went to that news conference and is now totally broke, squandering 155 million dollars he made during a 12 year career in the NBA. no education, no verbal skills, no job skills, an admitted alcoholic WITH a gambling addiction. gee, i wonder what section of the paper will carry his name next? police blotter? obituaries? financials? take your pick.
adios for now
